Tomas Bulksas Claims Second Kings of Vilnius Title for Family with Victory in €2,000 High Roller (€24,281)

Linas Bulksas and Tomas Bulksas with their Kings of Vilnius trophies Level 22: 15,000/30,000/30,000 Entries: 1/38 Prizes: €68,191 After an eight-hour final day, Tomas Bulksas of Lithuania has emerged triumphant in the Kings of Vilnius €2,000 High Roller here at Olympic Casino Lietuva, taking the top prize of €24,281, after defeating two-time WSOP Online bracelet winner Marius Kudzmanas heads-up.
The victory caps a remarkable week for the Bulksas family, after brother Linas took the trophy in the €555 Kings of Vilnius Championship earlier in the series for a €25,915 payday.
The tournament attracted 38 entries, creating a €68,191 prize pool, and five places were paid, as set out below:-
Position Player Country Prize 1 Tomas Bulksas
Lithuania €24,281 2 Marius Kudzmanas
Lithuania €17,070 3 Jae Han Kim
South Korea €12,240 4 Vidar Assersen
Norway €8,380 5 Evaldas Narmontas
Norway €6,120 Bulksas started the final day tenth out of 11 Day 1 qualifiers, and came into the final table sitting in the middle of the pack.
After Jae Han Kim claimed the first two knockouts of the final table, Bulksas sent fellow countryman Tomas Bassus to the rail to bring about the bubble.
A lengthy scrap ensued, and the logjam was eventually broken when Kudzmanas disposed of Ricardas Lukauskas, who was forced all-in from the big blind.
After Kim claimed the scalp of Evaldas Narmontas and Kudzmanas knocked out Vidar Assersen, the tournament was down to the final three, and Bulksas started to come to the fore, expertly increasing his aggression levels.
The champion proceeded to flop a set to bust Kim, setting the stage for a heads-up confrontation with Kudzmanas, Bulksas holding a healthy lead.
The pair battled back and forth, and at one stage it appeared Bulksas would finish the contest relatively quickly, after Kudzmanas was left on the ropes and at a 5:1 disadvantage.
Kudzmanas would not give up without a fight however, and he doubled twice to come back to almost even. The key hand then transpired when Kudzmanas attempted to lay a trap with a flopped straight, but Bulksas went runner-runner for a flush.
Kudzmanas was left with crumbs, and Bulksas would finish the job in the next hand, hitting two pair when he already had his opponent dominated preflop.
Bulksas had total recorded career tournament scores of $13,653 prior to this event, and this result represents a new career-high score, sparking what will surely be a lengthy period of celebration for the Bulksas family.
That concludes Poker.Pro‘s coverage of this event, but stay tuned for our coverage of the €1,100 Kings of Vilnius Main Event, featuring a €250,000 guarantee, commencing tomorrow from noon.
