Michael St Pierre-Porter Bags Second Trophy of the Series
ichael St Pierre Porter is having a good week. This was his 3rd final table and second win since Event 6. He won Event 6, was 3rd in E7, and has now added the Event #12 trophy to his resume.
He got a huge double early in heads up when his ace-eight found a four-card straight to crack the queens of runner-up Gaetano Buda. That left Buda on fumes, but he doubled back a few times, and eventually managed to get back up to over a million.
That’s when it all came to an end, however. St Pierre-Porter shoved and after a bit of thought, Buda said “Let’s gamble.” St Pierre-Porter was ahead with king-ten over jack-six, and the king-high held for the win.

Deepstack Hyper — Now with Two Cards!
Event 12: $300 NLH Deepstack Hyper ($270+$30) Date: May 22, 5 PM Blinds: 15 Minutes Starting Stack: 40k Late Entry: 9 Levels (~7:30 PM) Day 1 Ends: One-Day Event At the start of the series, a version of this game ran with four cards. The Thursday side game is a redo of that, but with two cards instead of four. The hyper-fast action gets going at 5 PM.
Entries for this one are open until about 7:30 PM (9 levels plus a break), and players get 40k to start for this deep stack game. Blinds, on the other hand, will be lightning-fast at 15 minutes, creating a dynamic that should drive action considerably, especially during late-stage play.
This is a side game on Thursday, with the $450 PLO as my main focus that day. Given the nature of the blinds for this Hyper, I’m not sure if it will still be running when the PLO trophy is awarded, so this game MIGHT only get numbers and results updated, depending on how the rest of the day goes.
