Pure Poker Tour Series #5 - Event #1: $340 Seniors First

The third stop of the 2025 Pure Poker Tour kicks off on July 17 at Pure Casino Edmonton, with live coverage by Lyle Bateman throughout the series.

  • Jimmy Lee Wins Event #3, Caps $1 Million in Hendon Earnings

It was a bit of a marathon Day 2, lasting nearly 11 hours before a winner was finally decided. In the end, Jimmy Lee powered his way through for another PPT trophy and, perhaps more importantly, crossed the $1 million mark for live poker earnings on Hendon Mob.

Lee was the big leader for much of the endgame tonight, leading most of the way on the final table. Things got pretty swingy when he got heads-up with Dallas Larson, and both players had chances to win it.

Lee and Larson traded the lead several times heads up, and it finally took a huge cooler to end it. Larson woke up with pocket jacks and limped in, looking to trap Lee into a light raise. Lee raised it to 420k, then snapped off the shove from Larson.

Larson had a premium with his jacks, but Lee was sitting even better, holding pocket kings. The board ran out with no cards bigger than a nine and the kings held for a big win.

  • Dallas Larson Out in 2nd Place for $19,905

    Level:30 (80000/160000/160000)
    Entries:1/221
    Prizes:$125,970
    Dallas Larson

It was a pretty swingy heads-up, with both players having the lead several times. In the final hand, Jimmy Lee had once again chipped up into a small lead, and then the cooler came.

Dallas Larson limped in with pocket jacks, then jammed when Jimmy Lee made it 420k to go. Larson was clearly trying to trap, but instead ran into pocket kings for Lee. Lee snapped off the jam with more, and the nine-high double-paired board didn’t change anything, leaving the kings in front and Larson heading to the cage for second place.

  • Lee Doubles to Stay Alive

    Level:29 (60000/120000/120000)
    Entries:2/221
    Prizes:$125,970

Dallas Larson open-shoved the big stack, and Jimmy Lee snap-called to put himself at risk. It was a virtual race between the ace-jack suited for Lee and king-queen off for Larson. The board ran clean for Lee and he doubled to stay alive, but Larson still has a small lead.

  • Larson Back to Lead

    Level:29 (60000/120000/120000)
    Entries:2/221
    Prizes:$125,970

Jimmy Lee opened the button to 240k, and Dallas Larson jammed for 2.21 million. Lee called it off after a count, but ran his ace-nine into pocket nines for Larson. He couldn’t find his ace, and the hand left him on around 1 million, with Larson now over 4 million.

  • Lee Back to the Lead

    Level:29 (60000/120000/120000)
    Entries:2/221
    Prizes:$125,970

It’s back and forth in the heads-up match as Jimmy Lee has just doubled back to the lead. He open-shoved 1.55 million with ace-three and got called by Dallas Larson with king-jack. Lee rivered his ace, but didn’t need it as the board missed Larson, and Lee is now up to about 3.5 million and back in the lead.

  • Larson Leads Again

    Level:28 (50000/100000/100000)
    Entries:2/221
    Prizes:$125,970

The chips are moving around and Dallas Larson is back in the lead. He’s picked up a couple of decent pots recently, first when turned nine pipped Jimmy Lee’s flopped eight, then when he shoved over and open from Lee. Lee is now playing about 1.8 million of about 5.5 million in play.

Dallas Larson leads going into heads-up play after he sent Josh Myers to the rail for 3rd place. It was nines for Larson against ace0deuce of hearts for Myers, and the nines held after Larson flopped a set.

That gave Larson 3.192 million to 2.32 million for Jimmy Lee heading to heads.

    Entries:3/221

After another check from Myers, Lee slid out 375k on the A river and Myers called, showing ace-seven of clubs, but Lee showed J3 for the running flush on the river.

The three players are pretty close in chips right niw, but Lee is once again in the lead.

Michael Tran shoved the small blind for 250k, and after asking for a count, Jimmy Lee called it off from the big blind. Tran was marginally ahead with king-three against queen-seven for Lee, but Tran turned a king to take the pot down. It didn’t do much damage to Lee’s chip lead, however.

Pring was running hot, however, hitting trip nines on the 5Q9K9 runout to stay alive and double. See below for a full look at the remaining 8 stacks.

On Table 17, Josh Myers shoved two hands in the row. In the first one, he was on the button and got folds from Weston Pring and Chris Lahey in the blinds. The next hand, he shoved the cutoff, and the only change in the result was that Daniel O’Leary was added to the list of folders.

Meanwhile, on Table 18, Morris Kadylo limp-called a raise to 35k from big blind Hassan Issa. The flop came 46Q and Kadylo check-folded to a bet of 20k.

    Entries:11/221
    Prizes:$125,970

It turns out that the pot that sent Curtis Singleton to the rail also put Dallas Larson at the top of the counts. I went back to have a look, and he’s now got more than a million in front of him, while Jimmy Lee is still playing in the 900k range.

I arrived at the table as Dallas Larson was stacking up Curtis Singleton’s chips, and Singleton was making a beeline for the door, so I missed the action. The end result, however, was 11th place for Curtis Singleton, and a chip up for Larson that looks to have sent him above Eric Wasylenko into second place, still trailing Jimmy Lee, who is looking for a top-6 finish to crack the $1 million mark on Hendon Mob.

  • Larson is Big Stack Bully

    Level:20 (10000/15000/15000)
    Entries:12/221

Dallas Larson is the big stack at Table 18, playing over 500k, and in this hand, he used the stack as the bully. Ye Ping Shan opened to 24k in the final hand of Level 19, and Morris Kadylo called from the button before it folded to Larson on the big blind.

He asked Shan for a look at his stack, with Shan telling him it was just shy of 300k. After a couple of seconds, he announced all in with the covering stack, forcing folds from both his opponents to take down some dead money.

    Entries:14/221
    Prizes:$125,970

Curtis Singleton opened the action from the button to 25k, and Michael Tran defended his big blind with a call. The flop came 6J2 and both players checked to the A turn, which was also checked around.

Tran fired 25k on the 4 river, but Singleton came over the top with a shove for 184k. Tran misheard the action and thought it was just a call, revealing KJ before the dealer informed him Singleton was all in. That sent Tran into the tank with his pair of jacks exposed, and he finally folded after a couple of minutes to thought.

Singleton silently slid his cards to the dealer as he collected the pot, showing no signs of whether it was a value shove or a bluff.

  • 7 Off the Bags

    Level:14 (2000/4000/4000)
    Entries:25/145 (35/221 combined)
    Prizes:$82,650 (Combined: $125,970)

The 1b field is down to 25 players left now, with Level 14 just underway. That leaves them 7 eliminations off the end of the night at 18 players. It seems like a good bet that hand-for-hand play will start sometime early in Level 15.

  • Shan, O’Leary Leading

    Level:13 (1500/3000/3000)
    Entries:32/145 (42/221 combined)
    Prizes:$82,650 (Combined: $125,970)

The players are now on the break following Level 12 and I had a look around for some big stacks. Daniel O’Leary and Ye Ping Shan are virtually even at 275k, with a couple of other stacks in the high 100s.

    PlayerChips
    Ye Ping Shan275,000
    Daniel O’Leary274,500
    Wayne Halabi191,000
    Mike Malm170,000

There are 32 players left at the break, so they are 14 off the bags now.

  • 15 Off the Bags

    Level:12 (1500/2500/2500)
    Entries:33/145 (43/221 combined)
    Prizes:$82,650 (Combined: $125,970)

Level 12 is just underway and the field is down to 33 players remaining. That puts them 15 eliminations away from the bags coming out to end the evening. They’ll take a break in about 35 minutes when this level ends, with the action set to continue until they get to 18 players.

  • 24 Off the Bags

    Level:11 (1000/2000/2000)
    Entries:42/145 (52/221 combined)
    Prizes:$82,650 (Combined: $125,970)

They are down to 42 players left in 1b as Level 11 begins. That puts them 24 players away from the bags coming out. Day 1a played until 32 minutes remaining in Level 17 after the bubble lasted nearly two full levels, so it seems likely we’ll end today a bit earlier than 1a.

  • Prizes Confirmed at $125,970

    Level:10 (1000/1500/1500)
    Entries:43/145 (53/221 combined)
    Prizes:$82,650 (Combined: $125,970)

The prizes are in, and the field is confirmed at 221 total, with 145 of those coming from today’s second flight. I had previously thought that 19 players would move forward from today, but only 18 will bag later tonight, for 28 players returning on Day 2.

The full prizes will be loaded shortly under the Payouts tab, but the final table payouts are below.

    PlacePrize
    1$28,870
    2$19,905
    3$12,940
    4$9,955
    5$7,665
    6$6,070
    7$4,775
    8$3,780
    9$3,085
  • Entries Closed with 145 (Unofficial) on the Board

    Level:10 (1000/1500/1500)
    Entries:48/145 (58/221 combined)
    Prizes:$82,650 (Combined: $125,970)

It looks like the final tally for Day 1b is 145 entries. I’m still waiting to confirm that with the prizes, but it should mean that 29 players will return for Day 2, including 10 from Day 1a and 19 from Day 1b. They’ll be sharing in $125,970 in prizes with a projected 1st place in the range of $25k-$30k.

I’ll confirm all the numbers shortly when the prizes are out.

  • Dinner Time; Entries Close in Less than 45 Minutes

    Level:9 (600/1200/1200)
    Entries:48/142 (58/218 combined)
    Prizes:$80,940 (Combined: $124,260)

The prizes are now just a couple of entries away from $125k, with 142 entries on the board for today’s flight. That puts the two-day total at 218 for combined prizes of $124,260.

Entries remain open until they sit down to Level 10 in about 40 minutes, so it’s likely we’ll see one or two more entries before it shuts down.

  • Final Level to Enter

    Level:9 (600/1200/1200)
    Entries:53/136 (63/212 combined)
    Prizes:$77,520 (Combined: $120,840)

Level 9 has just begun and that means they are playng the final level of entries. The entry desk will stay open through the dinner break following this level, and will be closed when they sit down for Level 10 at about 8:15 PM.

The field is now at 136 entries for 1b and 212 total for combined prizes of just over $120k. At this point, it’s possible the 1b field will get to 150 entries, but more likely it will finish somewhere between 140-150.

  • Two Hours to Enter

    Level:8 (500/1000/1000)
    Entries:59/130 (69/206 combined)
    Prizes:$74,100 (Combined: $117,420)

With about 30 minutes to play in Level 8, the end of entries is now about 2 hours away. The current field is at 130 fro 1b and 206 across both days for total prizes of $117,420.

  • More than 200 Entries

    Level:7 (400/800/800)
    Entries:63/125 (73/201 combined)
    Prizes:$71,250 (Combined: $114,570)

The combined field has now cracked 200 entries with 125 on the board for today’s flight. That puts the two-day prize pool at nearly $115k with about 2.5 hours left to enter. It looks like prizes capping $120k are within sight, with $125k not impossible.

  • More than $110k in Prizes

    Level:7 (400/800/800)
    Entries:61/118 (71/194 combined)
    Prizes:$67,260 (Combined: $110,580)

Level 7 is about to get underway for the final three levels of poker with entries open. At the end of Level 9, they’ll take a 45-minute dinner break, after which entries will be closed for Event #3.

The current Day 1b field is at 118 entries for a combined total of 194 and total prizes of $110,580. They need just 6 more entries to hit 200 total entries, and it looks like that number could be beaten before the end of Level 7.

  • Nearing $105k in Prizes

    Level:6 (300/600/600)
    Entries:66/108 (76/184 combined)
    Prizes:$61,560 (Combined: $104,880)

The combined prizes are now just shy of $105k, and the combined field is just 16 away from 200 total. There are just under 3.5 hours left to register for the final flight, so that 200 figure looks well within reach at this point.

Level 6 has about 30 minutes remaining, and they’ll take their second break of the day at the conclusion of this level. When the return for Level 7, there will still be three levels of open entry before the dinner break, wit entries scheduled to shut down when they sit down for Level 10 at about 8:15 PM tonight.

  • On the Verge of $100k

    Level:5 (300/500/500)
    Entries:66/99 (76/175 combined)
    Prizes:$56,430 (Combined: $99,750)

The field is now 1 entry shy of 100 entries for 1b, and a combined prize pool of $100k. There are 99 entries on the board for today’s flight, for 175 in total and $99,750 in prizes.

There are still more than 4 hours left to enter this final flight, so it seems likely the final field will be near, or above, 200 entries.

  • More than $95k

    Level:4 (200/400/400)
    Entries:69/92 (79/168 combined)
    Prizes:$52,440 (Combined: $95,760)

The combined prizes are now more than $95k, with about 20 minutes to play in Level 4. Among the more recent entries I spotted were DJ Sharma, Mike Malm, Mike X, Ye Ping Shan, Francis Fan, Dallas Larson, Pav Braich, Colten Yamagishi, Johnny Yu, Ryaan Cairns, and Ian Alvarado.

  • More than $90k After First Break

    Level:4 (200/400/400)
    Entries:64/84 (74/160 combined)
    Prizes:$47,880 (Combined: $91,200)

The players are back at the felt after their first break of Day 1b, and the combined prizes are already over $90k. The 1b field is now 16 entries shy of 100, the magic number that will also put $100k into the combined prizes.

It’s looking like a lock for today’s field to be three digits; the big question now looks to be how many more than 100 entries they’ll see,

  • 1b Beats 1a Before First Break

    Level:3 (200/300/300)
    Entries:63/78 (73/154 combined)
    Prizes:$44,460 (Combined: $87,780)

There are still about 5 minutes to play until the first break of Day 1b, but the 1b field has already beaten the total field for 1a. There were 76 entries for the first flight, and today’s field just hit 78, for combined prizes approaching $90k.

A total of 100 entries for today’s flight will push the combined prizes over $100k, and that looks like a very conservative estimate with the field already 22 away from that number and nearly 5.5 hours left to get into the game.

  • More than $80k in Prizes to Start Level 3

    Level:3 (200/300/300)
    Entries:58/65 (68/141 combined)
    Prizes:$37,050 (Combined: $80,370)

The 1b field is just 11 shy of the total field for 1a, and the 1b players haven’t even gone on their first break of the day yet. The two-day field is now at 141 entries for total prizes just over $80k. It looks fairly certain that they’ll beat the 1a field before the upcoming break at the end of this level, about 35 minutes from now.

Rob Lothian just let me know he’s on an early run, chipping up to around 130k already today. There’s still lots of poker to play, but it’s looking good for Lothian to find a big bag later today.

  • 60 1b Entries in Level 2

    Level:2 (100/200/200)
    Entries:54/60 (64/136 combined)
    Prizes:$34,200 (Combined: $77,520)

The 1b field is now at 60 entries with more than 5 minutes left to play in Level 2. That puts the combined field at 136 entries for $77,520 in prizes, with more than 6 hours left to enter today’s final flight.

  • Nearing $75k in Prizes

    Level:2 (100/200/200)
    Entries:47/49 (57/125 combined)
    Prizes:$29,400 (Combined: $72,720)

The 1b prizes are already approaching $30k, for a combined total just a few entries shy of $75k. Level 2 has just begun, so there’s still lots of time for these numbers to increase, and with 49 on the board already for today’s flight, it looks like a field of 100+ isn’t out of the question for today.

Among the players taking a shot today is Nadav Bitton. He’s fresh off a deep run near the end of the most recent World Series of Poker. He powered his to the final table of the final event, the Super Turbo, and ultimately fell one player short of the biggest prize, coming second for his biggest ever score of $158,578(USD). Mo Alamelhuda, Karin Schulenburg, Daniel O’Leary, Suru Patel, Skyler York, Ed Zurawell, Fred Werezak, Andy Truong, Michael St Pierre-Porter (who was the 1a bag bubble last night after a huge cooler with Weston Pring at the end of a long Day 1a grind), John Donnelly, and Rob Limpert are among the other players in action today.

  • More than $60k in Combined Prizes

    Level:1 (100/100/100)
    Entries:30/30 (40/106 combined)
    Prizes:$18,000 (Combined: $61,320)

The prizes are now over $60k across both days with 30 entries on the board for 1b so far. There are just under 30 minutes to play in the opening level, and with the current pace, it looks like a lock to get to $100k before the end of entries later tonight.

  • 18 Entries to Start The Day

    Level:1 (100/100/100)
    Entries:18/18 (28/94 combined)
    Prizes:$10,800 (Combined: $54,120)

Day 1b is about to get underway with 18 entries on the board to start the day. That means the combined prizes are now already closing in og $55k, and it seems likely to assume we’ll get to $100k later tonight.

Among the players in their seats to start the game are Rob Lothiam, Jerry Tria, Jeff Forester, and Russ Slichinski.

  • Singleton Leads 1a Stacks with Second Chance to Bag

    Date:Jul 19, 2025, 1 PM
    Blinds:40 Min
    Starting Stack:25k
    Late Entry:9 Levels (~8:15 PM)
Day 1 Ends:12.5% of the field

Day 1a of Event #3 drew 76 entries for prizes of $43,320. They played what looked like it might become the Never-Ending Bubble, as hand-for-hand play lasted nearly 2 full levels. When Michael St Pierre-Porter finally bubbled Day 2, after losing a huge cooler to Weston Pring, Pring was second in chips behind leader Curtis Singleton. See the Day 1a final post for all the bags that came from Day 1a.

Players will be able to enter late or rebuy for 9 levels of play, which should put the end of buy-ins on Day 1 at about 8:15 PM. After that, they’ll play down to 12.5% of the starting field before the bags come out. 12.5% will move forward from each starting flight, and all players who make Day 2 are guaranteed money.

This is a best stack forward event, meaning players can bag both flights and play their biggest stack on Day 2 while taking a min-cash for the small stack, but players must bag at least one stack to get a payout. No payouts will be awarded on either Day 1, so if multiple players bust on the Day 1 bubble such that fewer than 12.5% go through, those busted players won’t receive payouts, and the Day 2 field will be a bit lighter than normal.

This game will be my main focus on Saturday, and I should be on the floor pretty close to the start of action.

  • Singleton Leads Day 1a Bags

    Level:17 (4000/8000/8000)
    Entries:10/76
    Prizes:$43,320

The bags are in and Curtis Singleton will be the Day 1a leader with 430k. Weston Pring bagged second with 332k, largely on the back of a huge cooler against Day 1a bubble boy St Pierre-Porter.

  • Pring Doubles with Better Two; St Pierre-Porter Bubbles Day 2

    Level:17 (4000/8000/8000)
    Entries:11/76
    Prizes:$43,320

Michael St Pierre-Porter just took a shot at ending the night, calling off a shove from Weston Pring with the covering stack. Unfortunately for St Pierre-Porter, and fortunately for Pring, St Pierre-Porter’s two pair with tens and nines was no good against Pring’s kings and tens. Pring looks to be nearing 300k now, while St Pierre-Porter is under 100k.

The next hand, St Pierre-Porter jammed over an open from Curtis Singleton for his remaining fumes. Singleton called it off for a rough coinflip between king-ten and ace-nine for St Pierre-Porter. Singleton spiked a ten and the bags were out. Stay tuned for a look at the remaining players and chisp shortly.

  • Still on the Bubble

    Level:17 (4000/8000/8000)
    Entries:11/76
    Prizes:$43,320

Event #3 has turned into the Never-Ending Bubble. Level 17 has just begun, with bubble play first kicking off about halfway through Level 15. That means they’ve been playing 11-handed for about an hour already, still looking to bust that final player for the bags.

  • Bag Bubble

    Level:15 (2500/5000/5000)
    Entries:11/76
    Prizes:$43,320

Day 1a is down to 11 players left, on the break following Level 15. They are hand for hand now until the next elimination, after which the night will be over. Lynne Stephenson was the big stack with more than 300k, but she had a brutal run that saw Michael St Pierre-Porter straighten her out twice for doubles before Curtis Singleton sent her home after hitting a straight flush.

  • 13 Left, Three Off the Bags

    Level:14 (2000/4000/4000)
    Entries:13/76
    Prizes:$43,320

They are down to 13 left now, with Andy Truong as the most recent player to hit the rail. They still need to bust out three more players before they end today’s flight with 10 players left.

  • Singleton Shoves on Pring

    Level:14 (2000/4000/4000)
    Entries:14/76
    Prizes:$43,320

Curtis Singleton opened the middle to 8k before Weston Pring reraised the cutoff to 26k. It folded around to Singleton and, after a bit of tank time, he shoved a covering stack. It was Pring’s turn to tank for a bit before folding ace-jack of spades face up.

Meanwhile, on the same table, Lynne Stephenson looks like the first player to hit 300k, playing about 312k right now for the biggest stack remaining.

  • Four Off the Bags

    Level:13 (1500/3000/3000)
    Entries:14/76
    Prizes:$43,320

They are down to 14 players left now, with about 10 minutes remaining in Level 13. Nich Peterson was the most recent exit joining DJ Sharma, Cody Goulet, and Johnny Dalphond on the rail before the bags.

  • Phan, Singleton Over 200k; Stephenson Just Below

    Level:13 (15000/3000/3000)
    Entries:16/76
    Prizes:$43,320

Just before the break, Travis Darroch lost a huge pot after doubling up Xuan Phan’s stack of 114k. He opened the small blind, Phan shoved the big, and Darroch tank-called it off with more. He was on pocket tens, but had to get there against pocket jacks for Phan, and the jacks held to send Phan to the chip lead and drop Darroch to 61.5k.

  • Stephenson Takes One from Cutoff

    Level:11 (1000/2000/2000)
    Entries:21/76
    Prizes:$43,320

Michael St Pierre-Porter opened it up to 4,500 early and Lynne Stephenson called the cutoff, as did Johnny Dalphond in the big blind.

It checked to Stephenson on the J29 flop, and she fired 10k. Dalphond mucked but St Pierre-Porter stuck around to the 3 turn, but that was as far as he got. He checked and faced a bet of 26.5k, choosing to muck his cards instead of continuing to the river.

Garry Sandhu opened to 4k from the middle before hijack Curtis Singleton made it 11.5k to go. DJ Sharma slid in the flat call from the small blind, and Snadhu also put in the rest to see a three-way flop of 942.

They all checked it to the 2 turn where Sharma led out for 8.5k. Both players called and the river was 5. Sharma and Sandhu checked it, but Singleton was having none of that and shoved a covering stack. Sharma took some time to much his cards, while Sandhu made the same move much faster.

  • Pring & Truong Chop It

    Level:10 (1000/1500/1500)
    Entries:24/76
    Prizes:$43,320

DJ Sharma opened the action early with a bet of 3k. Andy Truong called from the cutoff, as did Weston Pring from the small blind.

It checked to Truong on the 66K flop and he fired 4,500. Pring made the call while Sharma got out of the way. The turn was 5 and Pring check-called for 9k. They both checked the 5 river, then both revelaed jack-ten for a chopped pot.

  • Singleton Leads After Dinner

    Level:10 (1000/1500/1500)
    Entries:26/76
    Prizes:$43,320

So far, there have been no new entries during the dinner break, leaving the field at 76 with just moments to go until cards are in the air for Level 10 and entries are closed. That means there will be 10 bags later tonight, and there are now 26 players returning from dinner, leaving them 16 players off the bags.

Curtis Singleton is still leading at dinner. See below for a full look at all the remaining players, seats, and chips.

  • Dinner Time

    Level:9 (600/1200/1200)
    Entries:26/76
    Prizes:$43,320

The dinner break is moments away, and there are 76 entries on the board to start the break. They’ll be back in action for Level 10 in about 45 minutes, and entries will be closed once they sit down.

With 76 entries, it looks like 10 bags at the end of the night, but a couple more entries over dinner could push that to 11. They’ll need 5 more entries over the dinner break to get to 11 bags, so at this point, it’s an open question.

  • Final Level of Entries

    Level:9 (600/1200/1200)
    Entries:27/72
    Prizes:$41,040

Level 9 has just begun, and this will be the final level of poker to enter today’s flight. Entries will remain open through the dinner break that follows this level, with the desk scheduled to shut down at about 8:15 PM when they sit down for Level 10.

With the current numbers it looks like there will be nine bags later tonight, but that could jump to 10 with more entries.

  • Up to 66 Entries

    Level:8 (500/1000/1000)
    Entries:33/66
    Prizes:$37,620

Level 8 is just beginning with 66 entries on the board. That puts the end of entries about 2 hours away now, and it looks like we’ll end with somewhere between 70 & 80 entries for Day 1a. The dinner break comes after Level 9, and entries are closed when they sit down for Level 10.

  • Stephenson Leads on Break

    Level:7 (400/800/800)
    Entries:37/63
    Prizes:$35,910

Lynne Stephenson looks to be the only player on a six-figure stack now as she’s sitting right around the 100k mark. Below is a look at a few of the other bigger stacks in the room.

  • Sharma Gets Sharma-Timed

    Level:6 (300/600/600)
    Entries:39/63
    Prizes:$35,910

Usually, when DJ Sharma is all in against another player, he generally needs to get there. In a recent hand, he actually thought he was getting there against Toller Conrad when he turned a boat, but Conrad pulled the reverse Sharma-time on him, getting there on the river for a bigger boat and sending Sharma to the rebuy desk.

Level 6 is nearly complete, and players will be out of the room for a break shortly. I’ll have a look around for some big stacks on the break and report back for the start of Level 7.

  • Ghani Straightens Out Comely

    Level:6 (300/600/600)
    Entries:42/61
    Prizes:$34,770

Akif Ghani opened the action under the gun, betting 1,400. Razvan Radu called two seats to his left, as did big blind Tony Comely.

After a check from Comely on the 467 flop, Ghani bet 2,200. That sent Radu’s cards to the much, but Cmely stuck around for a 7 turn. Both players checked it, and the board completed with 5.

Comely check-called 3,600 on the river, but mucked when Ghani rolled over 98 for the rivered flush.

  • Dalphond Takes it On the Turn

    Level:5 (300/500/500)
    Entries:44/60
    Prizes:$34,200

The field is now 2 entries away from $35k in prizes, and Johnny Dalphond just took a decent pot. Karin Schulenburg opened the action early to 1,600, and Dalphond called from the middle. Dj Sharma also called the big blind.

Sharma checked to Schulenburg on the all king flop of KKK. “How big is your pair, Johnny?” she asked, firing 3k.

“Bigger than that,” Dlaphond replied with a smile as he popped it up to 7k. Sharma mucked his hand, but Schulenburg called to the Q turn. She checked, then mucked when Dalphond fired 10k. Dalphond showed pocket fours, and Schulenburg said she folded a big ace.

  • Sharma Time?

    Level:5 (300/500/500)
    Entries:43/59
    Prizes:$33,630

The field is now up to 59 entries with 15 minutes to play in Level 5. That puts the prizes at more than $33k and climbing with just under 4 hours left to enter the game tonight. Among the new entries in the room is local McDonald’s magnate DJ Sharma. So far, we haven’t heard any “Sharma Time” shouts, but he did warn the table when he sat down that it may happen shortly. Johnny Dalphond is also at that table, and Kyle Dery was also among the recent buy-ins.

  • More than $30k in Prizes

    Level:5 (300/500/500)
    Entries:41/53
    Prizes:$30,210

The field is now up to 53 entries for prizes of $30,210. There are about 30 minutes to play in Level 5 with another 15-minute break scheduled after Level 6, and the dinner break and end of entries set for the end of Level 9 (entries remain open through the dinner break, which should start at about 7:30 PM tonight).

  • Cairns Finds an Ace on the River

    Level:4 (200/400/400)
    Entries:42/50
    Prizes:$28,500

Ryan Cairns made it 1,000 to go from the cutoff, and both Ruslan Baldzhy and Michael St Pierre-Porter called from the blinds. The 825 flop was checked around, before St Pierre-Porter bet 1,700 after a check from Baldzhy on the 7 turn.

Both players called to the A river, and it checked around. Cairns showed [Ah6h[/pcn] for the rivered pair and took down the hand when his opponents mucked.

The field is now up to 50 entries for today’s flight, putting $28,500 into the prize pool so far.

  • More than $25k in Prizes

    Level:4 (200/400/400)
    Entries:41/44
    Prizes:$25,080

Level 4 is now underway with about 30 minutes left to play and the field is up to 44 for just over $25k in prizes. Among the new entries that I spotted during the break were Colten Yamagishi, Vince Lam, and Eric Wasylenko.

  • Singleton Looks to Be Leading

    Level:4 (200/400/400)
    Entries:39/42
    Prizes:$23,940

The players are still on the break following Level 3, with about 5 minutes left until they are back at the felt for Level 4. I had a look around the room on break and it looks like Curtis Singleton, who has retired his rubber ducky card protector in favour of a small black phallus, is the leader with about 60k in front of him.

Other big stacks in the room on the first break include Xuan Phan (37k), Andy Truong (40k), and Ed Zurawell (43k).

  • Phan Has It

    Level:3 (200/300/300)
    Entries:37/39
    Prizes:$22,230

There are just over 10 minutes to play until the first break of the day, and Xuan Phan just stacked up a bit. The action opened early with Daniel O’Leary raising to 700 before Phan reraised the cutoff to 2,000. Garry Sandhu called from the small blind before O’Leary backed away.

Both players checked the 2Q3 flop, and Sandhu check-called for 2k on the 8 turn. After another check from Sandhu on the 4 river, Phan fired 4k into the pot. Sandhu called pretty quickly, but mucked his cards when he saw the two red aces in front of Phan.

  • More than $20k in Prizes

    Level:3 (200/300/300)
    Entries:35/36
    Prizes:$20,520

The prizes are now over $20k with 36 entries on the board for Day 1a. There are about 30 minutes to play in the level before the first break of the day, but there are still six more levels of poker, plus the dinner break, to enter the game. Entries will shut down after the dinner break following Level 9, which should be at about 8:15 PM this evening.

  • Baldzhy on the Big Blind

    Level:2 (100/200/200)
    Entries:30/31
    Prizes:$17,670

Michael St Pierre-Porter opened the action to 600 under the gun, and Francis Fan called the cutoff before it folded to Ruslan Bladzhy in the big blind. He quickly tossed out a stack of 3,700 for a big reraise, and the other two players mucked their hands.

Fan is a newcomer to that table since my last update on names, and elsewhere in the room, Lynne Stephenson has also just found a seat for today’s flight.

  • More than $17k in Prizes

    Level:2 (100/200/200)
    Entries:29/30
    Prizes:$17,100

There are about 20 minutes to play in Level 2 and the field is now up to 30 entries with 29 still at the felt. Among the recent entries were Ryan Cairns and Ed Zurawell. They’ll take the first break of the day at the end of level 3 in just under an hour, but there are still more than 6 hours left to enter today’s flight.

  • Peterson Takes it from Button

    Level:2 (100/200/200)
    Entries:23/24
    Prizes:$13,680

Toller Conrad opened to 600 under the gun, and Nicholas Peterson called from the button, as did Curtis Singleton and Belinda Roberts from the blinds.

The flop went clubbing with K67 and action checked to Peterson, who fired 700, enough to get three folds and a small pot.

  • More than $13k in Prizes

    Level:1 (100/100/100)
    Entries:22/23
    Prizes:$13,110

Level 1 has about 5 minutes to play with the field now up to 23 entries for prizes of $13,110. Players at the tables now are Nick Peterson, Curtis Singleton, Belinda Roberts, Toller Conrad, Fred Werezak, Karin Schulenburg, Dallas Larson, Akif Ghani, Michael Wyporowich, Tad Black, Brett Doty, Dabiel Luczyk, Hongwei Liu, Ruslan Baldzhiev, Holly Lingel, Ivan Magulak, Jeff Foretser, Rob Limpert, Xuan Phan, Razvan, Radu, and Gilles Plouffe.

  • Day 1a is Set to Run

    Level:1 (100/100/100)
    Entries:14/14
    Prizes:$7,980

Level 1 is now underway in the opening multi-game of PPT #3. The game kicked off with 14 players in their seats for prizes just shy of $8k. Among the players in the game so far are Curtis Singleton, Rob Limpert, Michael St Pierre-Porter, and Fred Werezak.

  • 10 Day 1a Bags Confirmed

    Level:11 (1000/2000/2000)
    Entries:21/76
    Prizes:$43,320

The numbers for 1a are confirmed with 76 entries and $43,320 in prizes. That means that there will officially be 10 bags at the end of the night, and, with 21 left, they are just 11 eliminations away from the bags tonight.

  • Singleton Forces the Issue

    Level:11 (1000/2000/2000)
    Entries:23/76
    Prizes:$43,320

  • First Multi-Day Action is Set to Roll

    Date:Jul 18, 2025, 1 PM
    Blinds:40 Min
    Starting Stack:25k
    Late Entry:9 Levels (~8:15 PM)
Day 1 Ends:12.5% of the field

The first multi-day event of the series is set to kick off on Friday at 1 PM. Day 1 of Event #3 starts with 25k in chips with 40-minute blind levels throughout the game.

My time at the felt is complete for this series after a bubble-cash for nearly my buy-in back in the Seniors on opening day, so I’ll be back behind the keyboard for coverage on this game.

    Dallas Larson

It was a pretty swingy heads-up, with both players having the lead several times. In the final hand, Jimmy Lee had once again chipped up into a small lead, and then the cooler came.

Dallas Larson limped in with pocket jacks, then jammed when Jimmy Lee made it 420k to go. Larson was clearly trying to trap, but instead ran into pocket kings for Lee. Lee snapped off the jam with more, and the nine-high double-paired board didn’t change anything, leaving the kings in front and Larson heading to the cage for second place.
