  • Teo Sanchez Dominates Final Table for Win in NLH/PLO Mix

Teo Sanchez, winner of the NLH/PLO Mix

When they were on the bubble seven-handed tonight, 4th place finisher Melissa Sekulich quipped that it was “the Teo Sanchez show” tonight. She wasn’t wrong — Sanchez had the big stack from seven ways all the way down to the win.

Chatting with him after the win, he said this was his favorite game to play, and it’s pretty clear he understands how to play community games with two or four cards. His run through the final table was dominated by aggression, raising most of the pots, and stealing chips on a regular basis with pressure on stacks looking to ladder.

When cards were revealed, he was generally best. In several hands, he found the goods, notably sending Don McCall home in 6th place after running out to the river boat in PLO, then scoring a double knockout of Sekulich and Deven Lane when his ace-queen found an ace in a huge pot where Sekulich shoved her button with nines, and Lane reshoved the small with jacks.

In fact, it was Sanchez who dispatched every player from 7th down to the end. When he got heads up with Sebastian Crema, it wasn’t exactly smooth sailing, as Crema managed to chip up to about a 3:2 deficit at one point. But it all went south for Crema in a huge hand where he bluffed a busted diamond draw in PLO, and Sanchez sniffed it out.

This was his first win on the live felt, and will be his biggest score by a small margin with his previous best score at just under $7k Canadian.

  • Sebastian Crema Out in Second Place for $5,746

    Level:20 (10000/20000/20000 PLO)
    Entries:2/63
    Prizes:$23,940
    Sebastian Crema

In the second to last hand, Teo Sanchez raised to 60k and Sebastian Crema called to see J53 on the flop. Both players checked to the 8 turn where Crema fired 100k. Sanchez called to the 4 river. Sanchez bet 125k, leaving himself about 100k behind.

The move seemed to confuse Sanchez a bit. “Good one to call, for a few reasons,” he muttered, then asked “Why not shove the river?” He finally found the call with AA108 and took it down when Crema showed A1094 for the busted diamond draw.

That left Crema on fumes, and he was out the next hand.

  • Crema Chips Up

    Level:19 (8000/16000/16000)
    Entries:2/63
    Prizes:$23,940

Sebastian Crema just chipped up to about 600k, though he is still trailing Teo Sanchez. After preflop limps they saw [pcn2c4cTd[/pcn] on the flop. Sanchez check-called fro 16h and the K hit the turn. Sanchez check-called for 40k to the K river.

Sanchez check-called again, after a bit of a tank, for 125k, but mucked when Sanchez showed A10 for the flopped top pair.

  • Sekulich, Lane Out in Double Knockout

    Level:19 (8000/16000/16000 NLH)
    Entries:2/63
    Prizes:$23,940

It’s still the Teo Sanchez show as he just grabbed most of the chips in play after sending both Melissa Sekulich (4th) and Deven Lane (3rd) to the rail in the same huge cooler. Sekulich shoved her button with pocket nines, Lane reshoved with pocket jacks, and Teo Sanchez called with ace-queen.

Sanchez found his ace on the turn of 226A4 and took them both out with the pair of aces. That leaves him heads up against Sebastian Crema with a huge chip lead.

  • Michael Baldwin Out in 5th Place for $1,915

    Level:18 (6000/12000/12000 PLO)
    Entries:4/63
    Prizes:$23,940
    Michael Baldwin

It’s the Tep Sanchez show right now after he sent Michael Baldwin to the rail with rivered trips. The money went in on the flop of 102Q after Baldwin potted preflop and Sanchez called. Baldwin only had 12k behind and Sanchez bet that on the flop with Baldwin calling. Sanchez was on 10884 and spiked his third ten on the river of the 510 runout. Baldwin mucked his hand before I could record it.

  • Don McCall Out in 6th Place for $1,436

    Level:18 (6000/12000/12000 PLO)
    Entries:5/63
    Prizes:$23,940
    Don McCall

Don McCall limped under the gun, and Deven Lane and Teo Sanchez called from the blinds. They checked the 394 flop to McCall, and he potted to 48k, leaving less than that behind.

Lane folded, but Sanchez repotted to put McCall all in and he called. Sanchez was on top pair with K985 but behind the queens for McCall. That changed on the turn when Sanchez double-paired, then boated the river on the 89 runout.

  • Kosterman Coolered on Bubble

    Level:17 (5000/10000/10000)
    Entries:6/63
    Prizes:$23,940
    Rick Kosterman

They are in the money in the Half & Half now after Richard Kosterman was on the wrong end of a bit of a bad beat. Kosterman limp-shoved with kings after Teo Sanchez raised it to 30k from the cutoff. Sanchez called with A9 and flopped a gut shot before getting running aces on the board of 7J10AA to crack Kosterman’s kings.

    Entries:7/63
