2025 Spring Super Stack – Event #5: $340 NLH Progressive Knockout

The PKO game is now over after the final three players agreed to a prize pool chop. They decided to chop the money evenly for $2,329 each and keep their bounties. Mohsen Shafizadeh was the leader when the deal was made, so he took first, Jacqueline Ray took second, and Shane Brotherwood took third in the deal.

Debi Loomer was the 4th place finisher tonight, though I was in the washroom for the action. The final three players then agreed to a chop with Mohsen Shafizadeh taking the win with the biggest stack. Stay tuned for the final post with chop details and the winner’s photo shortly.

Emmanuel Misonne went from a reasonable stack to out the door in two hands. He first doubled up Shane Brotherwood when he shoved with ace-eight but ran into ace-queen for Brotherwood who spiked trip queens to hold.

In the next hand, he shoved king-ten and got called off by Jacqueline Ray with ace-queen, She spiked to pair on the flop, but that left him drawing to the gutty. He turned a ten for more outs, but ultimately bricked the river.

Debi Loomer shoved 81k from her small blind and Mohsen Shafizadeh called off in the big. It was K♥5♣ for Shafizadeh against A♠8♠. Loomer flopped her ace, but had a bot of a scare when Shafizadeh turned a king and she initially thought the river double-paired Shafizadeh, but it was four instead of a five.

Mohsen Shafizadeh opened to 26k from under the gun, and Debi Loomer made the call from the big blind with the short stack. She check-shoved over a bet of 50k on the 7♠K♥3♠ flop.

Shafizadeh called and Loomer was looking for spades with 9♠6♠ against A♦J♥ for Shafizadeh. The Q♦ turn bricked but the 4♠ river hit her right in the spades for the double.

Jacqueline Ray shoved all in from the cutoff, and Mohsen Shafizadeh called from the small blind. It was a classic race between pocket sevens for Shafizadeh and A♠K♣ for Ray. Ray found her ace on the flop of 9♠A♦10♠6♣6♠ and held for the win.

Shane Brotherwood raised, then called off when Emmanuel Misonne shoved 115k. It was a race between pocket eights for Brotherwood and kind-queen for Misonne. The queen came on the flop and held to give Missone the pot and keep the game five-handed.

Shane Brotherwood has the lead now after getting Kirk Nilson’s stack recently, with Mohsen Shafizadeh in second.

They are down to five now after Kirk Nilson lost a race to Shane Brotherwood. Nilson had pocket threes against king-jack for Brotherwood and the king on the river sent Nilson to the cage for 6th place.

In the first hand, Debi Loomer shoved 43k from the small blind. Mohsen Shafizadeh said “I think I have to call, but you’re ahead.”

He had 8♠2♦ against K♦4♠. Both players missed the 10♣5♠7♣10♠A♣ board so the king held for a double.

In the next hand, Loomer shoved again from the button, and was called by big blind Shane Brotherwood. It was a race between treys for Brotherwood and ace-queen for Loomer. She turned her queen on the board of 5♠7♦8♠Q♣10♣ and held for her second double in two hands. She is now up to more than 200k.

Emmanuel Misonne raised to 25k from the cutoff, and Mohsen Shafizadeh called from the button. Misonne fired 25k on the [6s6d9h[/pcn] flop and got the call. They both checked the 7♠ turn, but Misonne went back to his stack for a 25k bet on the Q♠ river. Shafizadeh called and he hit a queen on the river with ace-queen, but he was always ahead of the ace-jack for Misonne.

Kirk Nilson limp-called from the small blind after Linda Goodwin raised the big to 25k. The flop was 4♠3♠6♣ and after a check from Nilson, Goodwin shoved her stack.

Nilson had her covered and made the call. He was on 8♥4♥ for the flopped pair against A♦8♠. The board ran out J♥2♠ to send Goodwin out in 7th place.

Mohsen Shafizadeh is the leader at the moment, but Jacqueline Ray isn’t too far behind. Below are the approximate chip counts for the final seven right now. They have a break coming up in 50 minutes and I’ll grab exact counts for the remaining players then.

The numbers are confirmed now at 75 entries and the prizes are posted on the board. I’ll get them updated in the backend shortly, but 1st and 2nd tonight will each get $2,683 (the difference for first will come from the final bounties), with a total of 8 players sharing in the prize pool.

There are 27 players left in the field now, so it’ll be a few hours before they near the money.

The entries are now closed for the PKO side game tonight, and the final unofficial tally was 75 entries. If that holds, it means there was a total of $11,250 in bounties tonight, with $10,125 in prizes to share later between the top 8 players.

I’ll confirm all the numbers shortly when the prizes are posted.

There are about 45 minutes left to enter the PKO game tonight with the field currently at 68 entries. That puts the combined prizes just shy of $20k, with $10,200 in the bounty pool.

There are about 10 minutes remaining in Level 7 and entries will close after the break following Level 8.

The prizes in the PKO are closing in on $15k now with $7,800 of that in the bounty pool and the rest in prizes. Level 4 has about 10 minutes to play.

The side game on Friday is the $340 PKO game. The action gets going at 6 pm with 20k in chips to start and 25-minute blind levels.

They have 8 levels to enter the game, putting the last chance to buy in at about 9:50 pm this evening. After that, it’s a race to the win in this one-day event.

I likely won’t be watching this one very closely until they get down to the business end, as I’ll be paying more attention to Day 1b of Event #3, but once that bags for the night, I’ll finish my day on this one.
