Homan Mohammadi Wins PLO Megastack for $11,573
Homan Mohammadi Homan Mohammadi has had a couple of long days since he woke up at 5 AM on Tuesday to fly to Calgary from Vancouver. But that’s not a bad problem to have when the reason for the long days is two final tables with a win.
When he arrived at the hotel yesterday, his room wasn’t ready as he arrived early in the morning, so he wandered the casino for a few hours before jumping into the 6-Max game. About twelve hours later, he was cashing for fifth place and $7k.
Then he did it all again on Wednesday, minus the flight, and with an extra two cards, by taking down the PLO Megastack after more than twelve hours at the table, and an epic two-hour heads-up match with Michael Wo. He and Wo were both on the ropes and on the verge of the win multiple times throughout HU as the action went from 140 big blinds in play to around 60 when it ended.
It wasn’t even close to a passive HU match, but for most of it, the short stack just couldn’t die. In one example, Mohammadi was on his way out in second place when he found trp deuces for a huge double. The final confrontation came when Mohammadi flopped two pair on a jack-high board, and Wo got his short stack in with an overpair of queens. The two pair held, and Mohammadi was sitting with all the chips.
Mohammadi was a ring winner in the High Roller at WSOP-C January this year and, as part of the winning prize, he won a seat to the Tournament of Champions, where he placed 10th. This is his fourth live win, but he has more than $1 million in live poker earnings, including two six-figure scores. This is his first win with four cards, and just his fourth PLO cash on Hendon Mob.

Michael Wo Out in 2nd Place for $8,358
Michael Wo It was an epic run in the money for Michael Wo, as he held the chip lead from the start until they got heads. That’s when he ran into Homan Mohammadi, who came in from Vancouver yesterday clearly ready to play. Wo played a disciplined game and had Mohammadi on the ropes multiple times tonight, but couldn’t quite deliver the final blow.
And Wo himself was on the ropes a couple of times as well as the chips moved around a lot during an epic HU battle that lasted more than two hours. For most of that two hours, it seemed like no one could die. They went from 140 big blinds in play at the start of heads up, down to 60 in play by the time it ended.
It still took a cooler to end it all. Mohammadi was on top at the time, in part thanks to a big double when he hit trip ducks, and Wo was down to just a few blinds left. The money went in on a jack-high flop with Wo on Queens with a ten-deuce and Mohammadi on two pair with eight-three of hearts and and a queen-six to go with it.
The rest of the board bricked for Wo, and he had to settle for second place tonight.

Mohammadi Trips Up to Stay Alive
Level: 22 (15000/25000/25000) Entries: 2/47 Prizes: $32,148 Both Michael Wo and Homan Mohammadi have been on the ropes with their tournament life on the line multiple times tonight, and every time, the short stack has found a way to survive. In the most recent situation, Mohammadi was down to about 200k, and it went in preflop with a pot, a repot, and a call.
Wo was on A♠Q♣J♣7♣ against 8♣7♥6♣2♦ and it was the deuce that played when the board hit paired deuces.
-
Wo has the Big Lead
Level: 21 (10000/20000/20000) Entries: 2/47 Prizes: $32,148 Michael Wo now ha a pretty big lead. In one recent hand, he potted to 60k from the button and Homan Mohammadi called. They both checked the 8♦10♦9♠ flop, and Mohammadi fired 80k on the 5♣ turn, and got the call.
He checked the 2♥ river, then tank-called the 120k bet from Wo. Wo showed K♣Q♦J♦9♦ for the flopped straight with diamond redraws. Wo is on about a 2:1 lead now.
-
Mohammadi Doubles,Wo Still Leads
Level: 19 (6000/12000/12000) Entries: 2/47 Prizes: $32,148 The chips are moving across the table pretty frequently, but the short stack is finding ways to survive. This time Homan Mohammadi limp-called the pot bet from Michael Wo to see 5♠2♣10♠ on the flop. Wo check-potted over a pot bet of 84k from Mohammadi, and that was enough to put Mohammadi all in.
He called it off with a gutshot holding A♠Q♣8♣4♣ against K♥K♠6♥5♣ for kings. Mohammadi found his wheel on the 3♣ turn, and it also brought in a flush draw for him. The river 10♥ didn’t change anything, and Mohammadi doubled, but Wo still has a small lead after the hand.
-
Wo Doubles
Level: 19 (6000/12000/12000) Entries: 2/47 Prizes: $32,148 Homan Mohammadi doubled up right after the break in a hand I missed, and he had the lead going into a hand where Michael Wo limp-called a pot raise to 36k. Mohammadi check-called for 17k on the 7♠7♦2♣. He checked again on the 9♦ turn, but elected to raise Wo’s 60k bet to 155k.
Wo called, leaving himself about 190k behind, and Mohammadi put him in on the Q♠ river. Wo snapped it off with J♣9♣7♣4♣ for sevens full of nines and a nice chip up back to nearly even.
-
Wo Leads on Break
Level: 19 (6000/120008/12000 Entries: 2/47 Prizes: $32,148 The players are o a short break following Level 18, with Michael Wo playing 830k to 578k for Homan Mohammadi. Action should resume shortly.
-
Mike Flanagan Out in 3rd Place for $5,787
Level: 18 (5000/10000/10000) Entries: 2/47 Prizes: $32,148 Mike Flanagan The stacks are nearly even now between Homan Mohammadi and Michael Wo, though Wo has a slight advantage. Mohammadi was the player who sent Mike Flanagan to the rail in 3rd, his second bronze finish so far this series after he made the same result in the NLH/PLO Mix game the other night.
-
Scot Munro Out in 4th Place for $3,858
Level: 18 (5000/10000/10000) Entries: 3/47 Prizes: $32,148 Scot Munro It was Scot Munro’s second final table in as many days, as he was at the 60Max final table last night as well. He was short for most of the money round, and finally got it in with aces against a flush draw for Homan Mohammadi, who was also at the 6-Max FT last night. Mohammadi hit his flush to send Munro to the cage for fourth place.
-
“Michael’s Got Us Mumbling”
Level: 18 (5000/10000/10000) Entries: 4/47 Prizes: $32,148 Michael Wo limp-called for 35k blind on blind against Homan Mohammadi. The monochrome flop was 8♥J♥2♥ and wo bet 17k, then called when Mohammadi raised it to 75k.
They both checked the Q♥ turn, but Wo fired 100k on the 9♦. Mohammadi muttered to himself as he folded, showing a pair of sevens.
“Michael’s got us muttering,” Scot Munro said with a smile. Wo is still the big stack, and while players have been trying to whittle him down, he’s been relentless in forcing the action with the big stack. There is a break coming in 15 minutes, and I’ll get some exact stacks then.
-
Mohammadi Gets a Double
Level: 17 (4000/8000/8000) Entries: 4/47 Prizes: $84,075 Michael Wo raised the small blind to 24k, and Homam Mohammadi called from the big. Both players checked the 10♠8♦5♥ rainbow flop, but Wo potted for 56k on the 3♣ turn. Mohammadi only had about 130k behind and it went in for a raise, which Wo tank-called.
Wo was open-ended with A♠J♦9♣ against a pair and a gutty for Mohammadi with A♦10♣7♥4♦. The K♣ river didn’t change anything and Mohammadi doubled to about 300k, but Wo is still leading with more than 400k.
-
Wo Takes Lead
Level: 16 (3000/6000/6000) Entries: 4/47 Prizes: $32,148 Homan Mohammadi raised to 20k first to act, and it folded around to Michael Wo in the big blind. He called to see 4♣5♥3♠ on the flop.
Both players checked it to the 5♠ turn, where Wo led for 15k. Mohammadi clicked it back to 30k, and Wo called. He checked th 9♦ river, but put in the check-raise to 120k when Mohammadi fired 30k, and that was enough to win it. The pot gave him around 640k now, and he’s the clear leader at the table now.
-
Wo & Mohammadi Tied for Lead
Level: 16 (3000/6000/6000) Entries: 4/47 Prizes: $32,148 Cody Richardson They are down to four players left after Cody Richardson busted while I was getting the pictures sorted. That leaves them with four left, and Michael Wo and Homan Mohammadi are roughly tied for the lead. I don’t have exact counts for the stacks right now, but both Wo and Mohammadi look to be playing about 440k. Mike Flanagan looks to be short with 210k while Scot Munro is playing about 275k.

Down to 7 Left
Level: 14 (2000/4000/4000) Entries: 7/47 Prizes: $32,148 The PLO Megastack is down to 7 players left, 2 off the money. There is still a lot of play in the game, however, with the average stack at more than 50 big blinds right now.
Michael Wo looks to be the chip leader over there right now with about 290k in front of him, but Scot Munro, who was at the 6-Max final table last night, also has more than 300k for second place. Deven Lane, Garett Maybery, and Mike Flanagan (who was 3rd in the NLH/PLO Mix) are also at the table.
I’ll grab full names and pictures when they get into the money after two more eliminations.

PLO Closed with 47 Entries
Level: 11 (1000/2000/2000) Entries: 13/47 Prizes: $32,148 The PLO field was a bit lght today, coming in at 47 entries for prizes of $32,148. That means five players will share in those prizes; see below for the payouts later tonight.
Given the size of this field, it’s not likely to go as late as I originally predicted, but the remaining 13 players have more than 40 bigs average right now, so there’s still a lot of play left in the game.

Nearly $30k in Prizes
Level: 9 (600/1200/1200) Entries: 17/43 Prizes: $29,412 They are one entry away from $30k in prizes in the PLO game, but it’s still a pretty small field with only 43 entries on the board. There is just under an hour left to enter this one, but I think ~50 entries will be the top end for this game.
-
36 Entries for PLO
Level: 7 (400/800/800) Entries: 18/36 Prizes: $24,624 The PLO Megastack is still a bit thin on entries, with just 36 on the board about 2 hours from the end of entries. That puts the prizes around $25k, and given the current pace, I expect this one to cap out at 50 or less.
-
Up to 24
Level: 4 (200/400/400) Entries: 24/24 Prizes: $16,416 The PLO Mega field is up to 24 entries now, with about 20 minutes to play in Level 4, and there aren’t a lot of easy spots over there. Among the players in the field right now are some PLO crushers like Teo Sanchez, Scot Munro (was was at the final table of the 6-Max last night), Adam Cygman (who won Event #3 on Sunday), Jerry Li (who crushed the endgame of the 6-Max last night), Nicholas Lee (who was three ways at the end of the Bomb Pot game with Sanchez and Skyler York), and Mike Flanagan (who was 3rd in the NLH/PLO Mix earlier in the week). Add in Darlene Hernandez, Steve Zhang, Paul Sokoloff, Mehmet Siginc, and Colten Yamagishi (who was also at the 6-Max FT last night), and there is some serious PLO talent seated in this game.
-
15 Entries for PLO Mega
Level: 2 (100/200/200) Entries: 15/15 Prizes: $10,260 The PLO Megastack looks a bit light so far today, with 15 entries in Level 2. I was expecting higher turnout for the big four-card game today, but the two-card megastack Day 1a may well be cutting into the numbers for this one.
Right now, with 15 entries, the prizes are at a bit more than $10k, but it looks like this could be a small one.

PLO Megastack on the Side
2025 Summer Super Stack – Event #13: $800 PLO Megastack
Date: Aug 6, 2 PM Blinds: 30 Minutes Starting Stack: 30k Late Entry: 10 Levels (~7:45) Higher-stakes four-card aficionados will be primed for Wednesday action in the $800 PLO Megastack. Players get 30k to start with 30-minute levels throughout the game.
The deep structure and relatively long blinds will ensure the cream rises to the top in this one. 6-Max winner Jerry Li may be as creamy as it gets in local PLO tournaments, especially on a hot roll, so expect to see him in this one on Wednesday, along with players like Teo Sanchez, Julius Roque, Skyler York, and many others.
Cards go in the air at 2 PM, and entries are open till about 7:45 PM, when Level 11 starts. I won’t be watching this game very closely until later in the action, but expect it to go well into Thursday morning — anyone registering this game should expect to be still playing at 4 AM if they run deep. No doubt I’ll be able to catch significant endgame action on this one after the Megastack bags.
