Tony Pioquinto busted in 3rd place while I was finishing up the end-of-day posts for Event #3 Day 1a, setting up heads-up play between Tony Comely and Ron Lauzon. They were pretty even in chips to start the heads up and that didn’t really change.

Heads up took less than a level as the blinds were getting pretty big. Both players agreed to an even-money chop and they played it out for the trophy and bragging rights. Comely also hit the five with KJ95 against Lauzon’s 9642 for top pair and a solid wrap up. Comely smashed the 5 turn for a boat, leaving Lauzon’s rivered straight with the 6 dead.

When the chips were counted out, Comely had just a bit more, and the game was done. Both players pocketed $5,848 for the game, but only Comely got the Pure Poker Tour trophy and swag.
