Beer Poker Tour Returns to Genting Casino Stratford for Fifth Event

Even though poker is a prestigious game in which money is often at stake, the fun side of the game must never be forgotten. Whether you’re a recreational grassroots player or a dedicated professional, the social and entertaining aspect will always be a vital part of poker. Luckily, there are several live poker events out there that emphasize this, and one of them is the Beer Poker Tour. The festival is all about the good vibes, and the vision is that all the players will receive a poker experience to remember for the rest of their lives.

Even though the Beer Poker Tour is relatively young, it has already organized, conducted, and evaluated three events (four if you count the first launch tournament in Dublin in November 2024). Like a fine wine, the Beer Poker Tour has only grown better with every event. Now, it’s soon time for the fifth installment, and based on what we know so far, it seems like the tour is going to continue to raise the bar.

A Toast for the Fifth

The founder of the Beer Poker Tour, Merivan Hassan, had a vision. He wanted to create a live poker event that stood out from the masses, a gathering where players could enjoy low-stakes poker games with various disciplines. In this environment, all could live, laugh, and enjoy a good time not only at the tables but also around them.

With some help from co-founder Guillaume Diaz, the vision came to life in the shape of the Beer Poker Tour. After a first introduction tournament in Dublin roughly one year ago, the tour then developed a collaboration with Genting Casino Stratford (formerly known as Aspers). Since February this year, there have been three Beer Poker Tour events at the casino, which is the pinnacle of poker in London. Now, it’s soon time for Mambo number five.

The next Beer Poker Tour event will be held October 14-19. As with the previous three events, Genting Casino Stratford, London, will once again roll out the red carpet. As previously stated, the Beer Poker Tour is growing, and the spurt is only continuing. The upcoming edition has a record-breaking £125,000 guarantee across the whole festival. £100,000 of the guarantee is dedicated to the star of the show, the £185 Main Event. With a whopping seven starting-day flights, the turnout is expected to be on the larger side. During the last edition back in September, the same £100,000 guarantee was surpassed, and the final prize pool read £109,755. Speaking of the most recent event, it was quite the rollercoaster finish, as the final five players all made a deal.

The Main Event won’t be the only lager on the beer shelf, though. There are several side events that sound very intriguing, such as the £150 Happy Hour Mystery Bounty, which will kick off the festival as it’s scheduled on October 14 (alongside two £30 Main Event satellites). In terms of “high rollers”, the £230 High Pressure NLH PKO will be the tournament with the most hefty buy-in. Another tournament that definitely deserves a shoutout is the last one of the festival, the £100 Last 2 Double Board PLO6. If you like action, this is one tournament that you do not want to miss out on.

The sublime tournament schedule aside, as previously mentioned, the Beer Poker Tour is so much more than that. In fact, this journalist was on-site for the last event, covering it live, together with host Glenn Brown, and we got to experience the event first-hand. It was nothing less than amazing, and one has to applaud Hassan’s creativity. A beer token was added to the pot every time the blinds went up in the Main Event. The one who won the pot got their token, and these could then be exchanged for various Beer Poker Tour merchandise: power banks, t-shirts, hoodies, coffee mugs, and more.

What’s more, all Main Event players were treated to a free buffet during the dinner breaks of the tournaments. Also, when players got a certain hand, four-of-a-kind, for example, the whole table was treated to free beers. As you can hear, the Beer Poker Tour is quite the unique experience, and it’s an educated guess that Hassan’s brain has been working around the clock to come up with even more surprises for the upcoming stop.
