Ladva Wins the Warm-Up
The series opened with the €10,000 Turbo Warm-Up event, because at the Bombay Club, a five-figure buy-in is just how you get your feet wet. With 22 entries, the prize pool reached €209,000, making it a proper affair from the start.
When the dust settled, it was Estonian chess grandmaster Ottomar Ladva who lifted the first trophy of the week. He defeated Finland’s Ville-Petteri Wahlbeck heads-up to claim €89,900, while Wahlbeck took home €56,400 for the runner-up finish.

This marks Ladva’s second win at the Bombay Club, as he previously conquered the €25,000 Main Event in February, banking €225,600 after a three-way deal with Evgeniy Tereschenko and Casimir Seire. The 28-year-old Estonian has now amassed over $2.3 million in live tournament earnings, with several more millions collected online under his alias DingeBrinker.
Finishing third in the Turbo Warm-Up was Morten Klein. The Norwegian businessman and high-stakes regular has made appearances at the highest buy-in events at Triton Series, EPT, PokerGO Tour, and more and this result now marks his first cash at the Bombay Club as well. Fourth place went to Markkos Ladev, one of Estonia’s most accomplished players. Ladev already has two Bombay Club titles to his name, including a win in the €10,000 Invitational for €128,000.

Kayhan Mokri Leads the €25,000 Main Event

Day 1 of the €25,000 Main Event followed on Friday, drawing 31 entries for a €744,000 prize pool. The number is expected to rise closer to the million-euro mark with late registration still open before the start of Day 2. One of the added perks for early Main Event entrants is priority access to the €1,000,000 GTD Bombay Anniversary Invitational, as all events at the Bombay Club are limited to 64 players.
At the end of Day 1, Norway’s Kayhan Mokri topped the 11-player field with a massive stack of 247,000, an impressive build from a starting stack of 30,000. Mokri busted five bullets in the Warm-Up event without finding a cash, but has bounced back in dominating fashion at the Main Event and is now looking at a big payday. Second in chips is Marat Kasparov (153,000), a hedge fund manager based in Dubai and Tallinn. The top two stacks have a big lead over the rest of the field as the next in line, Kaspar Kaisel, bagged and tagged 90,700 heading into Day 2.
The Main Event continues today with 50-minute blind levels until the final table is reached. Day 3 and the crowning of the new champion will take place on Sunday.
Also on the horizon is the biggest buy-in event of the week, the €50,000 Bombay Big 50, which kicks off Sunday as well and will bring even more fireworks to the high-stakes action in Tallinn.
