Looking for something a bit different for your next poker trip? The Chainsaw Mixed Series of Poker (CMSOP) at Planet Hollywood Resort & Casino in Las Vegas might be just the ticket.
Running from November 9 to 20, the Allen “The Chainsaw” Kessler-fronted series features 12 days of pure mixed games. The series kicks off with a fixed-limit Omaha hi/lo game, and that sets the stage for the rest of the series.
There are no straight hold ’em games to be found anywhere on the schedule, with the closest nod to the most popular game coming in the fixed-limit hold ’em rounds of the two HORSE games on the schedule.
There are some examples of four-card community board poker on the schedule, but most of the series is devoted to the less-common variants of the game. Nearly every other variant of poker is represented in one of the 12 events, with badugi as the only major omission that I can spot (though that game will get a nod as part of the Mixed Triple Draw game), with much more unusual live formats like Triple Stud included.
The series as a whole is divided into two types of games — 9 regular games priced at $600 with 30-minute blinds, and 3 Championship games priced at $1,100 with 40-minute blinds. There will be championship titles awarded in Omaha 8, HORSE, and TORSE.
