It was a huge day at Deerfoot Inn & Casino on Saturday. While the evening team game was a cozy affair with a small field, the final flight to Event #3: $340 Deepstack was epic.
By the time the dust settled on Day 1c of the Deepstack, the final-day field was over 250 entries. That put 560 entries across the three starting flights for a record field in a multi-day non-Circuit event here at Deerfoot since the post-pandemic craziness of 2022.
The Team game was a bit more of a cozy affair, with 25 entries by the time registration closed. That said, it was still a party atmosphere with a lot of loud cheering and drinks flowing. In fact, the 25 entries in the Team game made more noise than the massive 1c field for most of the night.
Deepstack Field is Deep
Event #3 saw the biggest multi-day field in a non-Circuit event here at Deerfoot since 2022, with 560 entries and almost $160k in total prizes. 252 of those entries came from Day 1c, with 25 of those players making it through to Day 2, along with 31 from the first two flights, for a total of 56 players returning on Day 2, all in the money.
Keivin Yellowfly was the chip leader from Day 1c with 505k, but that was still behind the top two stacks from Day 1a, belonging to Giulio Rosati and Curtis Singleton. Seamus McGearty also bagged big in 1c with almost 500k.

Cozy Team Game Has Fun in the Corner

After the huge turnout for Day 1c of Event #3, the evening Team game was a much smaller affair, nestled into three tables in the corner of the Chrome room. When entries closed about 3 hours and 15 minutes after the start, there were 25 entries for prizes of $7,125.
Three teams got a share of that prize pool at the end of the night, and once they got close to the money, things went very quickly. Shayla Mah and Kang Lee were the team that ended up on the bubble, finishing fourth and just missing out on the money.
They played in the money for about 30 minutes before Kelly Gall & Maru Somers ended their run in 3rd place. Somers, for her part, was very excited to get her first official in-the-money final table picture in one of these events, and didn’t seem at all upset that she had to share it with Gall.
That left Kelly Wist & Wendy Wilson up against Gianna Taylor & Noah Capannelli for the title, but with the blinds getting huge and the stacks getting short, they decided to chop up the money and play it out for the glory of the official win. After a couple of quick hands, Team Wist/Wilson emerged as the official winners, but both teams pocketed $2,850 after the deal.
