There are few, if any, more iconic online poker series than the European Poker Tour. The “EPT” was founded in 2004 by PokerStars, and ever since, the tour has been going strong (with a short Covid-19-related break, of course). The event just keeps on rolling, and the feeling is that its popularity and attendance grow with every event.
Recently, the schedule was released for the 2025 EPT Prague, which will be the last stop for the tour this year. As has been the case with the other EPT events this year, the schedule does not disappoint. Whether one wants to chase glory in the €5,300 Main Event, or contend for various Mixed Games titles, Prague will be the place to do it this December.
Two Decades in Prague
The 2025 EPT Prague will take place December 3-14 at the Hilton Hotel Prague. This is far from the first time the tour has visited the Czech capital; in fact, it’s been one of the most appreciated cities among EPT enthusiasts for almost two decades. Even though the 2025 EPT Barcelona finished roughly one month ago and the 2025 EPT Malta will be played in October, it’s never too early to get excited for a live poker event in Prague.
Last year, the legendary Pedro Marques won the €5,300 Main Event for €963,450, after coming out on top in a field of 1,458 entries. Considering the general fuzz about the EPT stops in the global poker community, it’s an educated guess that this behemoth of a tournament will score similar numbers this year. This year’s Main Event will kick off with Day 1a on December 8. Day 1b is scheduled the very next day, and those who survive will move on to Day 2 on December 10. All in all, it’s a six-day affair, which is what to be expected with the modern-day EPT Main Events.

The other day, poker.pro had an EPT-unrelated chat with Norwegian poker legend Tobias Lekses, who made the claim that “EPTs are now running with more Mixed Games than ever.” Browsing the Prague schedule, it quickly becomes evident that Lekses’ statement is correct. €550 8-Game, €2,200 10-Game, €550 Deuce-to-Seven Single Draw… There’ll be a Mixed Games fiesta at the Hilton Hotel Prague, and surely, EPT attracts a new part of the market with this very diversified tournament schedule.
As has been the case for the past stops this year, the PokerStars Open could be considered as an integrated part of the EPT. The three PokerStars Cup events will kick off the whole festival, running December 3-8. It’s an educated guess that the €1,650 PokerStars Open Main Event will be one of the most popular days during the 12-day-long Prague party.
Back to the EPT tournaments. From a spectator’s point of view, few things are more thrilling to follow than High Roller tournaments. Not only is there a lot of dough at stake, but the High Roller regulars more often than not tend to know what they’re doing at the poker tables. Not only is it entertaining watching giants of the game lock horns, but it’s also an invaluable experience for one to learn and improve one’s game. That’s why the expectations are high for the €50,000 Super High Roller. The tournament that held the same buy-in in Barcelona this August attracted legendary players such as Niklas “Lena900” Åstedt, Jason Koon, and, of course, Kayhan Mokri, who won the event for €520,900.

The 2025 EPT Prague schedule is filled to the brim with intriguing events; it’s impossible to highlight every tournament. The €5,200 PLO, the €3,250 Mystery Bounty, and the €10,300 High Roller are just fractions of a very exciting mix of tournaments.

The Venue
The EPT hasn’t earned its reputation as one of the best live poker series of all time by leaving things to chance. Only the best, most luxurious venue is good enough for a live poker series of this magnitude. It’s safe to say that the Hilton Hotel Prague meets the requirements. The hotel is beautifully located right next to the Vltava River, a mere two kilometers from the picturesque Old Town of Prague. An indoor pool, sauna, six restaurants, and a sky bar with a supply worthy of gods… the Hilton Hotel Prague has it all, elevating the already succulent experience that an EPT event already is even further.

December may be one of the darkest months of the year, but the 2025 EPT Prague is guaranteed to light up the winter in the most dramatic fashion possible. Even though the 2025 EPT Malta is next up, the wait for the Prague stop is already unbearable, and without a doubt, it’ll be a fitting way to end the 2025 EPT season.
