The 2025 Summer Super Stack wrapped up its marquee tournament in dramatic fashion, with Chase Bonertz taking the $1,500 Superstack NLH Main Event crown and a career-best payday. The two-day battle drew 329 total entries, building a $421,943 prize pool that paid out 33 spots.
The final table was stacked with talent, including Shariq “Sharqy” Khan, Zhigang (George) Yang, and Romualdo Cusano. Cusano’s run ended in sixth, and the pace quickened as blinds climbed. Bonertz’s turning point came when he flopped a set against Dave S’s top pair, giving him the ammunition to survive the swings ahead.
Heads-up play began with Dave holding an 8:5 chip lead, but momentum flipped fast. Bonertz doubled twice—first with ace-seven against king-ten, then with kings against Dave’s ace-four—before sealing the win when his ace-four cracked Dave’s kings. The Calgary grinder locked up $94,937, while Dave took $61,182 for second.

Kenma Closes Out the Final Event ($280 NLH Bounty) of the Series

The $280 NLH Bounty was all about fast action and knockout cash. Each elimination added instant dollars to players’ stacks, leading to aggressive play from the start. Kevin Kemna and Ryan Cairns were the most active at the final table, each piling up both chips and bounties.
In heads-up play, Kemna doubled with pocket aces against Cairns’ tens before finishing the job with pocket nines holding against an all-in shove. Between his payout and bounties, Kemna left with just under $5,000 and the trophy, while Cairns took $3,712 plus his bounty haul.

Looking Ahead to WSOP-C October
That wraps the 2025 Summer Super Stack, but Deerfoot Inn & Casino still has a lot of poker planned for 2025. Starting October 1, the WSOP-C returns to Calgary for its first-ever October series here
Typically, the Calgary Circuit events have run in Jan & May, with one exception, when an Aug series was also added in 2024. Going forward, it looks like the May dates have been dropped in favour of a fall tilt for WSOP Rings.
As always, poker.pro will be back as the exclusive live reporting source for the October Circuit series.
