Vili Turunen

The two-day €250 NLH Opening Event attracted a banner field of 130 entries on Saturday’s opening day to create a €27,170 prize pool to establish a new Latvian record for this event after eclipsing the previous record of 126 entries at the 2025 OlyBet Showdown Riga Voodoo Spring Edition, when Latvia’s Raivis Pučurs won the title and the €6,740 top prize.

The first day concluded after Finland’s Saara Benlamine, who shipped the 2024 Queens of Tallinn Main Event, exited in ninth place for €780. The final day witenssed two more Finns nearly immediately exit from the eight players remaining with Alex Heinonen (seventh – €1,170) and Anu Lilja (eighth – €960) the first to hit the rail.

Four Latvians remained out of the six players in the field, but that quickly changed after Dmitrijs Mihejevs (fourth – €2,350), Dmitrijs Popovs (fifth – €1,780), and Mārcis Mednis (sixth – €1,430) all hit the rail, leaving just the start-of-the-day chip leader Ēriks Krūmiņš.

Krūmiņš was unable to parlay his chip lead into a victory, and the 2024 WSOP Circuit Tallinn ring winner lost his stack in third place for €3,140. Shortly after, Vili Turunen hoisted the trophy and earned the €6,780 top prize after defeating Estonia’s Henri Vosokovski (second – €4,400) heads-up to win the title.
