Myers, Kim Capture Hardware in Wednesday Action

Wednesday’s action on the Pure Poke Tour consisted of a couple of contrasting structures. Starting the day in the main slot was Event #10: $560 NLH, a relatively slow structure with an average stack size. Later in the day, the NLH Deepstack Hyper kicked off with lightning-fast levels, but a super-deep starting stack.

Both games drew more than 100 entries, continuing the solid numbers of this series so far. 101 Entries for E10 generated $47,975 in prizes, while 106 entries in E11 dug a prize pool $27,189 deep. And in both cases, it was a first-time PPT winner hoisting the trophy after the games.

Josh Myers Wins 1st PPT Trophy with Best Live Score in Event #10: $560 NLH

It took 13 hours for Josh Myers to bag his first PPT trophy win on Wednesday. He’s been knocking at the door for several years with multiple final table appearances here on the Tour.

He’s picked up a couple of other wins in live events, both last year. The first came across town at Pure Casino Yellowhead in their June Monthly Deepstacks game, then later that year in October, he bagged a win down in Calgary in a Fall Super Stack bounty event.

But this was the first win on the PPT and the first win to come with hardware. At $13,610, it also appears to be his biggest live score ever.

It wasn’t an easy run for him at the end either, as the final table was a fairly serious affair. Among the players in the money were Colten Yamagishi, who’s been having a rough week with bubbles, Andy Truong, Michael “Berny” Bernstein, Jerry Li, Alex Liu, Brett Worton, and double winner this series, Shawn Taghavi, along with the podium finishers of 2024 API Player of the Year Mike Malm, and Kris Steinbach.

In the money play was about 4 hours long before Myers secured the win.

Dae Kim Wins First PPT Trophy in Deepstack Hyper

As befits the name, the Deepstack Hyper was a quick job on Wednesday. In fact, the side game started four hours after the main game, but still finished a couple of hours earlier.

It took about 8 hours to play through the 106 entries in Event #11: $300 NLH Deepstack Hyper, and the winner Kim was nearly out in third before rallying back. As the blinds got shorter, the final three decided to make an ICM deal and flip for the trophy.

Kim won that flip with two pair to win the trophy and $5,588 while Faton Bislimi took 3rd place for $4,890. In the middle in 2nd was Ali Razzaq with the biggest payday worth $6,010.
