PPT Hits Yellowhead for the First Time in 2025

The Pure Poker Tour is on its way to Pure Casino Yellowhead in Edmonton for the first time in 2025 for the second edition of the Tour this year. The opening festival in February across the city at Casino Edmonton saw more than $800k in prizes with more than 1,600 entries. This time around, the grand showroom at Pure Casino Yellowhead will play host.

The latest edition of the Tour gets going on May 11 with satellite action while the main games kick off on Thursday, May 15 with the Seniors (50+) and a Mixed NLH/PLO game on the side. That kicks off 11 days of MTT action at Yellowhead that culminates in the $1,100 Main Event starting May 23.

Throughout the two weeks of poker, there will be a two-day High Roller ($2k), 2 multi-day events aimed at different bankrolls, some four-card fun, and a Team game that promises to be a night of drinking with a bit of incidental poker on the side.

poker.pro will be on-site and reporting live from the event, so be sure to head to our live blog section for all the latest updates, chip counts, and photos from the second series of the Pure Poker Tour.

Pure Poker Tour Series #5 - Event #1: $340 Seniors First

Live Satellites Start Sunday

The live satellite action for the 2nd PPT of 2025 starts on Sunday, May 11 with a $440 Landmark Sat for $3,800 in $T value. One in ten entries will bag a package and the action starts at 1 PM at Pure Casino Edmonton. The starting stack for this one is 25k with 30-minute blinds and a stack landmark of 200k.

There are 3 more satellites on the docket before the start of the main series on Thursday. Every night leading up to opening day features a $220 Landmark game for $T1,900. All games start at 6:30 pm with Monday and Wednesday playing at Pure Casino Yellowhead and Tuesday action at Casino Edmonton. Players start with 20k for 20-minute levels and the landmark is 180k.

Two Multi-Days & High Roller Highlight 11 Days of Poker

There are two games on the Series #2 schedule with multiple starting days. Event #3 is the small-ball version for $670 with Day 1 flights on May 16 & 17 while Event #13 is the $1,100 Main Event with starting flights on May 23 & 24.

Multi-day games on the PPT pay 12.5% with Day 1 playing until they reach the 12.5% number for that flight, ensuring all players returning on Day 2 are in the money. Both events have 9 levels of late entry for Day 1 play.

  • Event #3: $670 NLH ($600 + $70)
    • Start Stack: 25k
    • Blinds: 40 Minutes
    • Day 1a: May 16, 1 pm
    • Day 1b: May 17, 1 pm
    • Day 2: May 18, 1 pm
  • Event #13: $1,100 Main Event ($990 + $110)
    • Start Stack: 30k
    • Blinds: 40/60 Minutes
    • Day 1a: May 23, 12 noon
    • Day 1b: May 24, 12 noon
    • Day 2: May 25, 12 noon

The High Roller game is the other big game in the series. It is a two-day event, but there is only a single starting flight. There’s a bit of a twist on this one, however — high rollers looking for a bit of a deal can register before the start of each day (entries are still open for a couple levels on Day 2) and get a cool $100 discount from the reg fees, making it a $1,900 buy-in. Players who buy in while action is underway will pay the full price of $2k, but players who take advantage of the discounted price with early entry should be aware that their stack will be in play from the start of the day, whether they are in their seats or not.

  • Event #9: $2,000 High Roller ($1,800 + $200 — $1,800 + $100 for pre-action entries)
    • Start Stack: 50k
    • Blinds: 40 Minutes
    • Day 1: May 20, 4 pm
    • Day 2: May 21, 1 pm

Four-Card, Team, & Single-Day NLH Round Out the Festival

For the four-card lovers in the crowd, 2025 PPT #2 will host 2 games that are exclusively Omaha games. The second day of the series features the PLO Deepstack Hyper ($270 + $30) as the side game alongside the opening flight of Event #3, while the main game on May 22 is the $450 PLO starting at 1 pm with 30k in chips for 30-minute blinds. Add in the mixed NLH/PLO game that runs on opening day, and there are 3 chances for the four-card lovers to get their game on in the upcoming series.

The final Saturday of the series features Day 1b of the Main Event during the day, but the evening will be filled with revelry as the Team game kicks off at 6 pm. While the rest of the series tends to be pretty serious poker, the Team event tends to have more of a party atmosphere with drinks flowing freely and lots of boisterous noise. There will be incidental poker going on amongst the party but, for this event, the poker tends to take a back seat to the fun.

The rest of the series is filled out with one-day NLH games of various flavours. The only bounty game on the schedule this time looks to be the $560 Big Bounty ($300 + $200 + $60), but standard NLH games with various buy-ins, start stacks, and blind levels will be available on the side on most days.

Head down to Pure Casino Edmonton on Sunday for your first shot at a free ride for the series and remember that satellite games are running all week in the lead up to opening day as well as online at KKPoker. I’ll be playing a stack in the opening Seniors game, with Alek Gillies on the reporting duties for the day. Alek will also handle one other day during the series for me, and come in for a couple of big side events, but otherwise, expect to see me lurking over your shoulders for much of the series.
