Six-Max Brings the Heat
Brand new to this year’s Summer Super Stack is Event #11: $1,000 NLH 6-Max, which gets underway on Tuesday, August 5 at 12:00 PM. It’s a rare and welcome addition for players who like action-heavy tables and deeper shorthanded strategy. With a 30,000 starting stack, 30-minute levels, and a $100 registration fee, this one-day affair is built for serious players chasing serious ROI—and could turn into a sleeper hit of the series. With the popularity of 6-Max at higher buy-in levels across North America, this could easily attract a field of crushers and high-level locals alike looking to battle without the full-ring drag.
Taylor’s Turf: H.O.R.S.E. Returns
Event #9: $400 H.O.R.S.E. makes its return on Monday, August 4 at 2:00 PM, and if the Spring Super Stack is anything to go by, this one’s a must-play for Alberta’s mixed game crowd. In April, local legend Thomas Taylor took down the event for $5,396, adding another notch to his already stacked resume of deep runs in high-stakes mixed formats across Vegas and the globe. While the payday was modest compared to Taylor’s usual hauls, the win on home turf—in a game he thrives in—had to feel extra sweet.
Taylor came in as the favorite earlier this year, thanks to experience in everything from Stud8 to 8-Game rotations. He delivered a crushing blow in O8 with a king-high straight and no low on board. From there, he coasted to the win in the Stud round. As the only option in the province for Alberta players to test their mixed game chops, don’t be surprised if this event is a sleeper hit.
Three Flights, One Superstack
The series wraps with its traditional anchor event, the $1,500 Superstack NLH, and as always, it’s built for grinders who want a deep run and real value. The Superstack kicks off with two starting flights—Flight A on Friday, August 8 at 12:00 PM and Flight B on Saturday, August 9 at 12:00 PM. Players start with 40,000 chips and 40-minute levels, offering one of the deepest structures in Alberta. Survivors return on Sunday, August 10 for Day 2, which features 60-minute levels and plenty of room to maneuver. If you’re looking to finish the series with a serious run (and possibly five figures), this is the one to circle. Just ask Alex Liu.
