The 2025 WSOP Super Circuit Cyprus Main Event at Merit Royal Diamond has crowned a new champion, a new millionaire. German poker pro Harald Sammer outlasted a massive 1,372-entry field to capture the coveted WSOP Circuit ring, the $1,000,000 top prize, and a $5,000 WSOP Paradise package.
Known online as “Cut3pOTTER”, Summer has been a respected name in online poker, however, this victory marks his first major live title and arguably the crowning achievement of his career so far. His previous best live score came in the 2018 WSOP $1,500 Monster Stack event, where he earned $118,802 for eighth place, while his online WSOP result in 2022 was even a notch better – seventh in $2,100 Mystery Bounty event for $211,304. Now with this win, Sammer adds a gold ring to his resume and crosses into the WSOP millionaire club.
After an intense, almost two-and-a-half-hour heads-up battle, the title came down to a classic, but a brutal showing of queens versus ace-king. Sammer’s pocket queens held against Austria’s Daniel Rezaei, who, as a sportsman as he is, congratulated the new champion before collecting $670,000 for his runner-up finish.
Another impressive result for Austrian, who now boasts nearly $8.5 million in live tournament earnings. Rezaei is also no stranger to success at this very venue, having won the $50,000 ONYX SHRS Championship here just a couple of months ago for a massive $1,043,530 payday.

Battle Between the Giants
It was another world-class event at Merit Royal Diamond, where 15 new circuit champions were crowned. Each ring winner also secured a $5,000 WSOP Paradise package, along with their title, so we’ll be seeing all fifteen in the Bahamas this December.
Across all 15 events, the series drew more than 6,700 entries, with buy-ins ranging from $1,100 for the 8-Max NLHE to $26,000 for the Super High Roller PLO. In total, the festival awarded more than $20,000,000 in prize money.

Beyond the players’ clashes, another battle was brewing behind the scenes between the European Poker Tour and the World Series of Poker. Both series hosted their festivals just weeks apart, but each on its own Mediterranean island: the WSOP Super Circuit in Cyprus, hosted by Merit Poker, and the EPT in Malta.
We reported earlier this year that Mediterranean Poker Party had narrowly edged EPT Monte Carlo by a single entry. If to some that sounded like a fluke, now, five months later, they left no doubt.
The $5,300 WSOP Super Circuit Main Event attracted 1,372 entries, handily surpassing the 898 entries of the comparable €5,300 EPT Malta Main Event. In Malta, Tomasz Brzezinski took the title after a heads-up deal with Mykhailo Ostash, earning €631,632, while his opponent pocketed €603,058.
Funnily enough, both Sammer and Rezaei cashed in that same EPT Malta event before hopping on a plane to make some more deep runs in Cyprus. Sammer finished 49th for €14,650, while Rezaei placed 81st for €11,050.

What’s Next for Merit Poker
With another impressive series in the books, Merit Poker continues to build its reputation as one of Europe’s premier poker destinations. Next one up is an entirely different kind of spectacle, a full-fledged Omaha festival. Kicking off on November 19, the PLO Cash Game Festival series will feature four-card, five-card, and bomb pot Omaha formats. And no worries, No Limit Hold’em as well.
At the heart of the festival lies the $5,400 PLO Main Event with a $500,000 guarantee and a knockout format with $2,000 bounties. Two starting days on November 23 and 24 lead into Day 2 and a Final Day on Wednesday, November 26.
