Rabie, Livingston, Klecan with Big Weekend Scores

There were a few deep runs for Canadians this weekend at the 2025 World Series of Poker hosted by Horseshoe and Paris, Las Vegas. The biggest of them all belonged to Lawrence Rabie, who made his way deep into the seniors for a final table cash that crushed his previous lifetime earnings.

Rabie will be joined on his way to the bank by Mark Klecan, who binked a nice score for a final table in mixed triple-draw deuce, possibly one of the most niche games in the whole series, and Alex Livingston, who has been cashing nearly every game he plays and rode the HORSE Championship deep to the final table. This was Livingston’s first deep run of the series, but his 8th cash at the series this year, and it seems likely he has another deep run or two in him before the summer is out.

The final big story of the weekend could come from Thomas Taylor. He bagged up in the nine-game after Day 1 along with Damiel Idema, but Taylor had a big Day 2, ending the day on the 3rd stack with 18 remaining.

No Bracelet, but Biggest-Ever Score for Rabie in Seniors

The big Canadian winner on the weekend was Lawrence Rabie. He made the final table of the Seniors event, looking to replicate Lonnie Hallett’s 2023 Seniors win for Canada. While he fell short of that bracelet goal, his 5th-place finish secured him his biggest-ever cash, more than doubling his previous lifetime earnings. Read all about it in the Sunday Recap.

Klecan Lowballs a High Score

The Mixed Triple-Draw Lowball may just be the most niche game in the whole series, as it mixes the triple draw variants of Deuce, Ace, and Badugi and forces players to constantly play for the lowest hand instead of the highest. Mark Klecan seems to like it, however, as he managed to grab 4th place from a solid field of crushers. The bracelet went to the incomparable Benny Glaser, his 3rd of the series, but the Canadian got the biggest score of his career, nearly equalling his previous lifetime. Get all the details in our Sunday report.

Livingston Finds a Final Table

WSOP 2024: Alex Livingston Wins His Second Bracelet in Event #97: $3,000 Pot-Limit Omaha 6-Handed!
Alex Livingston

It’s been a pretty solid series for Alex Livingston so far, with consistent results that have seen him at the cash cage in 8 of the tournaments he’s played this summer. Most of those cashes have been modest midfield scores, but he rode the HORSE Championship to his first final table of the summer.

He ended up bowing out in 6th as Kristopher Tong went on to win it, but he pocketed $76,581 for his troubles. That pushed his Hendon Mob earnings close to $9.6 million, putting 8 digits within sight.

Taylor Deep in 9-Game

Alberta’s top poker earner, Thomas Taylor, is at it again in Event #58: $3,000 Nine Game Mix. He bagged the 3rd biggest stack to end Day 2 with 1.278 million, with Jonathan Glendinning and Jon Kyte barely ahead with stacks in the 1.4 million range. Jeff Madsen, Phillip Sternheimer, and David Bach are among the top ten from 18 players moving forward to Day 3.

It’s no secret that Taylor loves mixed games and knows how to play with the best in the world. He bagged a second place in the recent $1,500 HORSE bracelet event and he was 10th in the Mixed O8 game. He won the most recent HORSE event at his local casino in Calgary, Alberta shortly before the series, and he has final tabled numerous mixed game events in the past few years at the series. He’ll be looking to finally pick up his first bracelet in Monday’s Day 3.
