Frank Koopmann is the first bracelet winner at the 2026 WSOP Europe in Prague.

The 2026 edition of the World Series of Poker Europe (WSOPE) is officially underway! After years at King’s Resort in Rozvadov, the series has relocated to King’s Casino in the Czech capital, Prague. The festival that was traditionally held in Autumn also had a calendar shift, as this year’s WSOP Europe moves to spring, with 15 coveted bracelets to be awarded between March 31 and April 12.

The first winner in Prague has already been crowned, as two-day Event #2: €3,300 Mixed PLO / PLO8 / Big O wrapped up its final day on April 1. There were no April Fools shenanigans in this one, as there was a lot at stake, namely a gold WSOP bracelet and a top prize of €123,879

Emerging victorious from a field of 181 entries was Germany’s Frank Koopmann, who captured his career-best result and first-ever tournament win. The event generated a prize pool of €543,000, and Koopmann sealed the win after defeating Shaun Deeb in heads-up play. Deeb, one of the most accomplished mixed-game players in the world, had to settle for a runner-up payout of €81,784 and his bracelet ticker remaining at eight.

Shaun Deeb started the 2026 WSOP Europe with a second-place finish.

In the final hand, Koopmann opened the pot and Shaun Deeb responded with a three-bet in a PLO8 round. On a flop of 1042, Deeb continued with a bet, Koopmann raised, and Deeb made the call.

The turn brought the 4, and after Deeb checked, the German fired again, with Deeb calling once more. The dealer completed the board with the K river, and Deeb checked for a third time. Koopmann then moved all-in, and after some thought, Deeb made a call.

Koopmann tabled A434 for quads, scooping the entire pot with no qualifying low against Deeb’s KQA3, to win the first bracelet of the 2026 World Series of Poker Europe.

Deeb is widely considered a favorite for the $1,000,000 WSOP Player of the Year race, and he kicked off his campaign in impressive fashion. This year’s PoY introduces a unified leaderboard across all three major WSOP stops in Europe, Vegas, and the Bahamas. The top 100 players will earn rewards, with the top three walking away with $100,000 packages for WSOP Paradise.

The €3,300 Mixed PLO event attracted a stellar field. Among those making deep runs were also the 2025 WSOP Main Event champion Michael “The Grinder” Mizrachi (24th – €6,545) and three-time bracelet winner last year, Benny Glaser (21st – €6,545).

The final table was also stacked, featuring 2020 WSOP champion Stoyan Madanzhiev (9th – €10,208), two-time bracelet holder Scott Bohlman (8th – €12,498), mixed Omaha bracelet winner Dario Sammartino (6th – €20,682), and 2025 double bracelet winner Blaž Žerjav (3rd – €55,518), alongside eight-time bracelet winner Shaun Deeb, of course.

Several other big names took their shot but fell short of money, including Viktor “Isildur1″ Blom, Josh Arieh, Erick Lindgren, David “ODB” Baker, Chris “Big Huni” Hunichen, and more.
