  • Ryan Comely Wins Event #10 for $9,494 (Deal)

    Level:22 (15000/25000/25000)
    Entries:1/108
    Prizes:$45,125
    Ryan Comely, Winner of E10

Ryan Comely came through for the win tonight in Event #10. The final three players cut a deal while Shawn Taghavi was chip-lead, giving him $9,994 guaranteed. That left $8,494 for Brett Higgins and Comely, with $1,000 and the trophy left to play for.

Comely quickly ran up to the big stack, sending Taghavi home in 3rd with his top score. Shortly after, he woke up with aces and slow-played them to trap Higgins. It worked the charm when Higgins flopped a pair of tens with ten-eight. The money went in on the turn, and Comely’s aces held for the win.

  • Brett Higgins Out in 2nd Place for $8,494 (Deal)

    Level:22 (15000/25000/25000)
    Entries:1/95

    Brett Higgins

Brett Higgins took second place in Event #10 tonight. The final money went in shortly after Shawn Taghavi went out in 3rd, after Higgins flopped a pair of tens. Ryan Comely was slow playing aces, and the money was in on the turn of K10369 with Higgins unable to improve against the aces.

  • Shawn Taghavi Out in 3rd Place for $9,993 (Deal)

    Level:22 15000/25000/25000)
    Entries:1/95
    Prizes:$45,125
    Shawn Taghavi

Shawn Taghavi was the chip leader when they made a deal, but it was all downhill for him after that. He got it in preflop against Ryan Comely’s big stack with what looked to be the winner, tens over deuces. Comely found a deuce on the turn of 5K82K to crack his tens, but he still made the most money from the deal.

  • Deal Time

    Level:22 (15000/25000/25000)
    Entries:3/95
    Prizes:$45,125

The final three players in Event #10 have cut a deal to smooth out the payouts. Shawn Taghavi has the big stack, and he secured $9,993. Brett Higgins & Ryan Comely both agreed to $8,493, with $1,000 and the trophy left on the table to play for.

  • Johnny Dalphond Out in 4th Place for $4,510

    Entries:3/95
    Prizes:$45,125
    Johnny Dalphond

They are down to three now in Event #10 after Johnny Dalphond hit the rail for 4th place tonight. I still haven’t been able to watch much of the action so far.

  • Jason Law Out in 5th Place for $3,475

    Level:22 (15000/25000/25000)
    Entries:4/95
    Prizes:$45,125
    Jason Law

They are down to 4 remaining in Event #10 after Jason Law hit the rail for 5th place. With both tournaments hitting the final table at the same time, and busting players relatively quickly, I haven’t had a chance to watch much of the action so far, but I should be getting over there shortly to catch the rest of E10.

  • Down to 5 Left

    Level:21 (10000/20000/20000)
    Entries:5/95
    Prizes:$45,125

They are down to five remaining now in E10 after short-stack Matthew Ouellette ended his day shortly after the break concluded. I still haven’t had a chance to watch much of the action on either table, as I’ve just been barely keeping up with the bustouts.

  • Final Table Faces with 7 Remaining

    Level:20 (10000/15000/15000)
    Entries:7/95
    Prizes:$45,125

David Chau was the first player out in the money tonight, followed by Keith Graham and Colten Yamagishi, bringing th E10 field down to 7 remaining with Level 20 just underway. Both games hit the money and the final table at about the same time, so I haven’t been able to catch much money action yet, as I’ve been working on pictures for two tables at once.

  • In the Money

    Level:19 (6000/12000/12000)
    Entries:10/95
    Prizes:$45,125

After nearly two full levels of hand-for-hand play, Brett Worton was the bubble tonight, despite being the big stack earlier at the break. That leaves 10 players remaining in Event #10, with all players now guaranteed at least $1,130.

  • One Full Level Hand-for-Hand

    Level:18 (5000/10000/10000)
    Entries:11/95
    Prizes:$45,125

They are still hand-for-hand in Event #10, with the full Level 16 played with the clock paused and two minutes coming off manually for each hand. They’ve now played two hands in Level 18, and the clock is still paused with 11 left.

  • Money Bubble Heading to Break

    Level:17 (4000/8000/8000)
    Entries:11/95
    Prizes:$45,125

The players are about to sit down for Level 17, and the clock will be paused to start the level with the beginning of hand-for-hand play on the money bubble. There are 11 players left with 10 paid spots, so the next elimination will put all the players in the money. Two minutes will be removed from the clock for each hand played to ensure both tables play the same number of hands.

Brett Worton is leading the way in the final 11 coming back, as the only player with more than 400k in front of him, but three other players are in the 300k range. See below for a look at all the stacks, seats, and names for the final 11.

  • Final Two Tables, Four Off the Money

    Level:15 (2500/5000/5000)
    Entries:14/95
    Prizes:$45,125

They are now 4 off the money with 14 players left in Event #10. Just over 5 minutes remain in Level 15, with one more level to play before the next break, which means it’s still looking like bubble play will happen near the end of Level 16 or the start of Level 17.

  • 12 Off the Money

    Level:13 (1500/3000/3000)
    Entries:22/95
    Prizes:$45,125

The Event #10 field is down to 22 remaining now, with a bit more than 5 minutes to play in Level 13. That puts them 12 players away from the 10 paid spots tonight, so I’m thinking bubble play should happen near the end of Level 16, or start of Level 17. I’ll grab a full round of chip counts from the remaining players at the next break, but that will be about 90 minutes from now.

  • Shihao Zhao Leads Final 28; Field Confirmed at 95

    Level:13 (1500/3000/3000)
    Entries:28/95
    Prizes:$45,125

The prizes are in and the field is confirmed at 95 entries for prizes of just over $45k. I was a bit low in my estimate for the winning prize — the winner tonight will actually pocket more than $13k, with second coming in just uder $10k. See below for the full payouts for tonight’s event.

  • Three Table Bubble

    Level:12 (1500/2500/2500)
    Entries:28/95
    Prizes:$45,125

The Event #10 field is now down to 28 players remaining, on the bubble to the final three tables. I’m still waiting for the prizes to be posted to confirm the numbers, but it looks like they are now 18 players off the expected money spots.

  • Final Four Tables

    Level:10 (1000/1500/1500)
    Entries:36/95
    Prizes:$45,125

The field in Event #10 is down to 36 players left now, on the final four tables. I’m still waiting for the prizes to be posted to verify the numbers, but it seems certain they’ll be playing for 10 paid spots, with roughly $8k-$9k up top for the win.

  • Entries Closed with 95 Unofficial

    Level:9 (600/1200/1200)
    Entries:46/95
    Prizes:$45,125

It looks like the final prize pool came in at just over $45k for this one, with 95 entries on the board when entries closed. That number is yet to be confirmed when the payouts are posted, but if it holds, it should mean 10 players splitting that $45k later tonight.

  • 88 Entries on Dinner

    Level:8 (500/1000/1000)
    Entries:40/88
    Prizes:$41,800

Just over 15 minutes remain in the dinner break, with entries set to close when they return for Level 9. There are currently 88 entries on the board for prizes of $41,800, but it seems likely they’ll get one or two more before the end of dinner.

DJ “Sharma Time” Sharma is among the players who jumped into this one late, and is looking to spin up his stack.

  • Final Level of Entry

    Level:8 (500/1000/1000)
    Entries:41/80
    Prizes:$38,000

The field is at 80 entries at the start of the final level of entries. Level 8 has just begun, which means there are just shy of 90 minutes left to enter Event #10.

80 entries on the board right now puts the prizes at just shy of $40k, but it seems likely they’ll see 10-20 more entries before the desk shuts down for the night.

  • More than $30k in Prizes

    Level:6 (300/600/600)
    Entries:42/64
    Prizes:$30,400

The prizes are now just over $30k for Event #10, with a bit more than 10 minutes to play in Level 6. That leaves them just shy of two hours away from the end of entries for this game, which will happen at about 6 PM.

  • Nearing $30k in Prizes

    Level:5 (300/500/500)
    Entries:43/57
    Prizes:$27,075

The field is up to 57 entries now, with about 20 minutes to play in Level 5. There are three levels of poker following this one before the end of entries, which means the reg-desk will close in just over 2.5 hours. Francis Fan and Ryan Cairns were among the recent entries to this one today.

  • Nearing 50 Entries Before First Break

    Level:4 (200/400/400)
    Entries:39/47
    Prizes:$22,325

The prizes are more than $22k already, with about 10 minutes to play in Level 4. They’ll take their first break of the day following this level, then return for four more levels of poker before the end of entries. The dinner break follows Level 8, and entries will close when they finish dinner and sit down for Level 9 at about 6 PM this evening.

It’s a field of regulars so far today, with a long list of familiar faces, including Kim & Keith Graham, Malcolm Bolger, Mike Malm (who was runner-up in the 6-ax last night, defending champ Tony Ma, Matt Ouellette, Jason Law, Brett Worton, Daniel Lefebvre, Kirk Nilson, Michael Baumann, here fron Germany for just his second tournament on Canadian soil after soft bubbling the PLO Bounty last night, Eric Wasylenko, Preston Stevenson, Colten Yamagishi, Brady O’Hara, Resul Dauti, Nichael St. Pierre-Porter (who won the 6-Max yesterday), Ryan Comely, Larry Quon, Nadav Bitton, Shawn Taghavi, Amir Khan, David Chau, Daniel Luczyk, Jan Rufoli, and Rob Lothian, among others.

  • $560 NLH Set for Main Game on Wednesday

    Date:Nov 26, 1 PM
    Blinds:30 Minutes
    Starting Stack:25k
    Late Entry:8 Levels (~6 PM)
    Day 1 Ends:One-Day Event

The main game on Wednesday is the $560 NLH. This one-day game plays with 30-minute blind levels and a starting stack of 25k.

Players have 8 levels of poker to buy into the game, with the entry desk set to close when they return from dinner for the start of Level 9. That should be at about 6 PM, after which it will be a race to the trophy.

Tony Ma and Partner after his win in Event #10

In September, Calgary’s Tony Ma took down this game over 76 entries. That netted him $12,280, the biggest share of the more than $36k in prizes. Ma took it down over Cam Stewart, and both players were in the middle of a solid run at PPT 4, with both scoring multiple final tables, and Stewart heads up twice. Ma is also having a solid series this time around – he just took 3rd place in the 6-Max on Tuesday, and, as of the time of writing, is deep in the PLO Bounty game, 8 off the money.

This game should be my main focus for Wednesday, and I expect I’ll be on the floor very close to the start of play.
