  • Corey Arsenault Wins Second Ring in Second Game

Corey Arsenault said he only entered two tournaments in this series, and he’s leaving WSOP-C Calgary with two Circuit rings. He won the Monster Stack on Thursday, taking down Anthony Casten in one of the wildest heads up matches I’ve ever seen.

Tonight, he got his second ring in five days after winning the turbo edition of the Big 30 Stack on the final day of action. Arsenault’s rise started when he nearly felted Ottawa’s Michael Khan. Khan’s been at more than his share of Calgary final tables, and he picked up fourth tonight, in no small part because of the winner.

In a crucial hand for both players, Khan shoved with ace-jack and Arsenault called with a suited king-four. Arsenault was at risk, with Khan covering him, but he found a king on the flop to double up. That left Khan too short make a comeback, and he was out a couple of hands later.

They played three handed for a bit until Dmytro Nikiforov ran into a brutal cooler. Arsenault shoved over his opening raise, and he tank-called it off with jacks. Arsenault had the goods, though, turning over cowboys and holding to take a big lead into heads up.

He was up about 6:1 over runner up Rodney Dyck, who had been a big leader early at the final table. Dyck found a couple of double ups to stay alive, but his high point wasn’t much more than 2.5 million of the 8 million in play.

In the final hand, Dyck was down to 1.3 million with the big blind at 150k, and shoved with king-four. Arsenault took quite a while to think about it, but finally decided to call with ten-eight of hearts. Dyck flopped the king on ace-nine-king, but the nine gave Arsenault backdoor flush and straight outs. The turn and river six-seven ran straight in through the backdoor for Arsenault’s second ring.

  • Dyck Doubles

    Entries:2/298
    Prizes:$88,440

Rodney Dyck shoved the button, and Corey Arsenault tank-called. Arsenault had a pair, but he was always going to be racing against overs, with deuces. Dyck had ace-nine, and flopped an ace, and rivered trips. He is now up to about 2.3 million, but he still needs another double to take the lead, as Arsenault has about 5.7 million.

Corey Arsenault is looking for his second ring, heads up with the big lead now. He won a ring a few nights ago in the Monster Stack for $61k, and he’s got a solid chance of getting #2 tonight with a 6:1 lead over Rodney Dyck.

  • Final Event of WSOP-C Calgary Oct Runs Monday

    WSOP-C Oct 2025 Infocard
    Date:Oct 13, 4 PM
    Blinds:20 Minutes
    Starting Stack:30k
    Late Entry:11 Levels (~8:10 PM)
    Day 1 Ends:One-Day Event

The final game of the series gets going Monday, Oct 13, at 4 PM. The Big 30 Stack tends to open and close the WSOP-C Calgary series, and this time, the final Big 30 is a $400 game.

Players get 30k to start, with blinds 20 minutes long. There are 11 levels to enter the game, putting the last chance to enter a ring event in this series at around 8:10 Monday evening. This is a one-day game that will finish before the day is out.

Steven Labelle, in his fighting pose after taking down the final event of WSOP-C Cal Jan 2025

In January, this game got 400 entries for prizes of $132,000. Steven Labelle overcame those 400 entries, including his heads-up opponent Mike Malm, to take down his first ring and the last ring of the January series.

I’m not sure how much of this game I’ll get to watch on Monday. My main focus will be the Main Event Day 3, with the High Roller Day 2 as my second priority. Once those are complete, if this is still running, I’ll finish the series out watching the endgame here, but don’t expect much action early in the game.

  • 268 Entries for Final Event

    Level:20 (10000/20000/20000)
    Entries:23/268
    Prizes:$88,440

They are in the money of the final event of WSOP-C Calgary October 2025, with 23 players left in the action. I’ll get the prizes updated shortly. I’ll get the prizes and chip counts posted shortly, but there is at least one person still in the field looking for their second ring of this series. Matt Hall is still alive here tonight, and he already has a ring from the PLO Bounty game on Friday night.

  • 176 Entries so Far for Final Game

    Level:6 (400/800/800)
    Entries:129/176
    Prizes:$58,080

The final even is playing out in Chrome, and while I don’t have eyes on the action, I can see the numbers. There is just shy of 2.5 hours left in entry, and the field is at 176 for prizes of more than $58k. I’ll finish my night on this one if it’s still running, but the Main Event and the High Roller are higher priorities for me today.
