Nicholas Lee Wins 4th Ring in Mini Main Event for $75,190

Nicolas Lee (R), winner of Mini Main Event, with Zeyu Huang
Kezheng Peng, runner-up in the Mini Main Event Nicholas Lee has had good success at WSOP-C Calgary over the years, but it’s typically in the middle of winter. He won his first ring here in January 2023, and he followed that up with #2 a year later in Jan 2024. His 3rd ring came in this year’s January series, and it looked a bit like January was just Lee’s month.
Now he can add ring #4, won in the fall. It’s also the first time he’s won two in one year, along with his first ring outside of January. He was dominant through much of the final table play tonight, holding the big stack most of the way.
He had a lot of competition from Dylan Ellis (3rd, $35,086) and Kezheng Peng (2nd, $50,104), with him and Ellis very close for a while during three-way play, and actually being down to Peng during heads-up.
He played his trademark patient, calculating game, waiting for the right spots. Peng was a bit of a wildcard during the endgame of the tournament, with a relatively rowdy rail and a boisterous, fun demeanor at the table. For much of the endgame, he and his rail were grunting after every pot won, playing “chimpanzee poker” as they called.
“Toronto Street Poker” was another term bandied about by the Chinese transplant’s rail, which included Kevin Huang, who finished 41st in the game, and who Peng told me he’d swapped with for this series. Peng was railing Huang last night at the Mystery Bounty final table (Huang took 6th for $4,243 in that one), and once he busted, Huang returned the favour for this one, no doubt with an eye on watching his swap grow as Peng laddered through the field.
Lee managed the boisterous rail well and had his own, more sedate rail. Zeyu “Skytrain” Huang was among the players at Lee’s side during the battle and joined him for the winner’s photo.
Lee had to come back from behind to take this one down, however. Peng got the lead shortly after he sent Dylan Ellis to the rail, largely on the back of aggressive play that forced Lee off hands.
Lee picked his spots and pulled some back when he hit a gutshot to the low end of an 8-high straight on the turn, and got two streets of value from Peng for more than 3.5 million added to his stack. Shortly after, he was up to a 3:1 lead, and that led to the final confrontation when Lee limped, then called a raise to 2.1 million, with blinds at 300k/600k/600k.
The money went in for the last time on the two-heart three-four-five flop, and it was a heads-up cooler. Peng flopped the wheel with ace-deuce, including the deuce of hearts, while Lee flopped the heart draw and a gutshot to the 8-high straight with 8♥7♥. The jack og hearts on the river gave Lee the flush and left Peng drawing dead to the 10♥ river.
Lee had just shy of $520k in earnings coming into this one, and once the exchange is worked out, this will likely put him up to about $560k.

Lee Chips Up More
Level: 34 (250000/500000/500000) Entries: 2/1668 Prizes: $550,440 Kezheng Peng raised the button to 1.25 million amd Nicholas Lee called to the Q♠2♦9♠ flop. Lee check-called for 800k, and they both checked the 4♣ turn.
Lee fired 2.9 million on the 7♣ river and Peng called, but folded when Lee showed queen-five for top pair.

Lee in the Lead
Level: 34 (250000/500000/500000) Entries: 2/1668 Prizes: $550,440 I missed the action while I took a quick bathroom break, but Nicholas Lee now has the lead with 30 million to about 20 million for Kezheng Peng.

Lee Gets Some Back
Level: 34 (250000/500000/500000) Entries: 2/1668 Prizes: $550,440 Nicholas Lee raised to 1.25 million, and Kezheng Peng called. They both checked the 5♠7♥8♠ flop, and Peng fired 1 million on the 6♦ turn.
Lee called to the 10♣ river, and Peng bet 2.5 million. Lee called, and Peng’s ace-deuce of spades was no good against the king-four for Lee, who turned the 8 high straight with his four.
Peng has the lead.
-
Dylan Ellis Out in 3rd Place for $35,086
Level: 33 (200000/400000/400000) Entries: 2/1668 Prizes: $550,440
Dylan Ellis Kezheng Peng had chipped up to second place, leaving Dylan Ellis on the short stack. He got it in with a king against jack-ten for Peng, but Peng ran out to two pair on the turn and river to take it down and send Ellis out in third. Ellis was looking for his second ring, after he picked up his first one in the Black Chip Bounty in Jan 2024.
-
Peng Four-Bets Three Ways
Level: 33 (200000/400000/400000) Entries: 3/1668 Prizes: $550,440 The action never went to the flop, but it was still pretty big. Dylan Ellis opened the button for a min-raise to 800k, and Nicholas Lee three-bet the small blind to 2.8 million. Kezheng Peng counted out a 7.5 million four-bet from the big blind, and that was enough to push everyone else off.
All three players have picked up rails today, but Peng’s rail is by far the rowdiest.
-
Pascal Gregoire Out in 4th Place for $25,015
Level: 32 (150000/300000/300000) Entries: 3/1668 Prizes: $550,440
Pascal Gregoire They are down to three after short stack Pascal Gregoire hit the rail. Nicholas Lee opened his button to 600k, and then called it off when Gregoire shoved just under 5 million from the small blind.
Gregoire was on pocket treys against ace-queen for Lee. The flop was no help for Lee, but when the ten-seven-deuce-queen-ace board was complete, Lee had the river overkill with two pair.

Peng Flops It
Level: 32 (150000/300000/300000) Entries: 4/1668 Prizes: $550,440 Kezheng Peng opened the button to 600k, and Nicholas Lee called from the big blind. They both checked the 3♣5♣6♣, and Lee fired 825k on the 9♠ turn. Peng raised it to 3.3 million, and Lee called to the 6♠ river.
Bith players checked, and Lee mucked when Peng showed J♣10♣ for the flopped flush. Peng’s rail gave him a bit of grief for checking back the flush, but he reminded them that the river paired the board.

“Doctor” Nicholas Lee Leads on Break with Half the Chips
Level: 32 (150000/300000/300000) Entries: 4/1668 Prizes: $550,440 The quotation marks around “Doctor” in front of Nicholas Lee’s name are only temporary, as he’s very close to finishing medical school. He’s also playing half the chips in play four ways at the final table of the Mini Main Event.
Player Chips Nicholas Lee 25,275,000 Dylan Ellis 10,100,000 Kezheng Peng 8,800,000 Pascal Gregoire 6,875,000 -
Reza Aminabadi Out in 5th Place for $18,165
Level: 31 (150000/250000/250000) Entries: 4/1668 Prizes: $550,440
Reza Aminabadi They are down to four left. I missed the action, but Reza Aminabadi ended his day in 5th for $18,165.
-
Jacob Parent Out in 6th Place for $13,439
Level: 31 (150000/250000/250000) Entries: 5/1668 Prizes: $550,440
Jacob Parent I missed the final hand, but Jacob Parent was left short after he doubled up Kezheng Peng. Peng had queens against Parent’s ace-x and the queens held for a big double for Peng. That left Parent short and he was out shortly after.
-
Faramarz Ghorbani Out in 7th Place for $10,134
Level: 31 (150000/250000/250000) Entries: 6/1668 Prizes: $550,440
Faramraz Ghorbani Faramarz Ghorbani raised to 550k under the gun, and it folded around to “Doctor” Nicholas Lee in the small blind. He repopped it to 1.775 million from the big stack, then called when Ghorbani shoved.
It was a classic race between nines for Ghorbani and ace-king for Lee. Lee flopped a gutshot to Broadway, then turned his king on the board of Q♣J♠4♠K♥3♠.
-
Paolo Tana Out in 8th Place for $7,791
Level: 30 (100000/200000/200000) Entries: 7/1668 Prizes: $550,440
Paolo Tana Kezheng Peng raised to 425k from the button, and Paolo Tana called from the big blind. Tana checked the 4♠7♥J♦ flop, then raised to 950k after Peng bet 300k.
Peng shoved, and Tana called. Both players hit the jack, with Tana holding king-jack for the best, but Peng’s jack-ten of diamonds on the backdoor draw. K♦4♦ on the runout improved Tana to two-pair, but Peng ran out to his diamonds for the win.

Ryan Cairns Bubbles FT
Level: 30 (100000/200000/200000) Entries: 10/1668 Prizes: $550,440 They are at the final table now after Ryan Cairns lost his stack for 11th place tonight. I missed the action while watching Nicholas Lee beef up his big stack after a limped, three-way pot that checked through the flop. Lee led from the small blind on the turn and took it down just as Cairns was busting from the other table

Tana Doubles
Level: 29 (100000/150000/150000) Entries: 11/1668 Prizes: $550,440 Dylan Ellis raised the cutoff to 325k, then faced a reraise to 1.7 million from Paolo Tana on the button. Ellis asked for a count behind, and thought for a minute before shoving a covering stack.
Tana snapped it off with kings against ace-jack for Ellis. Ellis said “Sorry” before the board, expecting to hit his ace to crack the kings, but the 4♦7♣J♣K♥9♥ runout had other ideas, sending the double to Tana.

Level: 29 (100000/150000/150000) Entries: 11/1668 Prizes: $550,440 I’ve missed some action on the final two tables of the Mini Main Event while I was doing some work on the Seniors game, and the field is now down to 11 left, with the final table planned for 10 places.

Amic Out in 15th Place
Level: 29 (100000/150000/150000) Entries: 14/1668 Prizes: $550,440 Peter Amic has been nursing a short stack for a while. He started the day with 1.2 million, and has basically had that stack throughout the day. He shoved the middle, before Russell Watson reshoved for more from his left. It folded to Dylan Ellis in the cutoff, and he smooth called the 1.875 million of Watson to cover both players.
Amic was live with K♦10♦ against ace-queen for both other players. The 3♠4♥9♦6♥8♠ board left the ace-queens in front, and Watson and Ellis chopped up Amic’s stack.

Ghorbani Doubles
Level: 28 (60000/120000/120000) Entries: 16/1668 Prizes: $550,440 Faramarz Ghorbani shoved under the gun for a bit more than a million, and Laurentiu Iftemie reshoved a bit more from the cutoff. Everyone else folded, and it was a classic race between pocket queens for Iftemie and ace-king for Ghorbani.
Ghorbani hit his ace on the flop of 4♠J♠A♦8♥2♦ and held for the double, leaving Iftemie short.

Ma Hits the Flop
Level: 28 (60000/120000/120000) Entries: 16/1668 Prizes: $550,440 Tony Ma raised early to 250k, and Russell Watson called from the middle. Ma led for 300k on the 8♦3♥2♣ flop and Watson called quickly.
“That was quick, sir,” Ma said with a smile. “Did you even think about it?” Both players checked through the rest of the 10♠3♣ board, and Watson mucked his hand when Ma showed 9♣8♣ for the flopped pair.
There is a break in just under 10 minutes, and I’ll update the chips then, but Ma looks like the big leader right now.

An Orbit on Table 41
Level: 28 (60000/120000/120000) Entries: 16/1668 Prizes: $550,440 Daniele Collu busted from the other table while I was watching the orbit on Table 41, and these hands span levels 27 & 28.
Hand #1
Action folded around Angelo Jopoek, who picked up the pot on the big blind.
Hand #2
Dylan Ellis opened the hijack to 200k, but then folded when Ryan Cairns raised the button to 600k.
Hand #3
Dylan Ellis raised to 205k, and this time, it folded around and he took the blinds and antes.
Hand #4
Gordon Wong shoved for a bit more than a million and got folds to take the blinds and antes.
Hand #5
Peter Amic, who has been joking about supplementing his CPP as he ladders up today, shoved his button for 1.17 million, and took the blinds and antes.
Hand #6
Action folded around, and big blind Dylan Ellis got the blinds and antes.
Hand #7
Tony Ma raised the middle to 205k, saying he “learned it from” Dylan Ellis, but then folded after Gordon Wong shoved his button and Ma got the count of 1.15 million. He showed pocket deuces before he folded, and speculated that he was probably racing against Wong’s hand.
Hand #8
Russell Watson raised the hijack to 325k, and Ryan Cairns called from the big blind. Cairns check-folded to a bet of 515k on the 5♣5♥8♦ flop.
-
Sarnelli Dominated to Rail
Level: 27 (50000/100000/100000) Entries: 17/1668 Prizes: $550,440 Faramarz Ghorbani shoved the button for 1.125 million, and Benny Sarnelli called with less from the small blind. Pascal Gregoire had a bit of a think in the big blind, but released his hand to set up the confrontation between Sarnelli and Ghorbani.
Sarnelli was in tough with K♠Q♥ against A♥Q♣, and the 7♥5♣7♣3♥10♣ board didn’t change anything.

Joshua O’Neill-Trotta Leads Day 2 Stacks

Event #4: $400 NLH Mini Main Event ($330 + $70)
Date: Day 2: Oct 5, 1 PM Blinds: 45 Minutes Entries: 86/1,668 Prizes: $550,440 ($417,510 on Day 2) First Place: $75,190 Day 2 of the Mini Main Event is set, and the game has been anything but mini. It looks like this was the second-biggest field ever for a Calgary WSOP Circuit series. With 1,668 entries, the only game bigger was the 2024 January 4-Flight, which came in just over 1,700 entries.
There are 86 players returning to play for Day 2 on Sunday, with Josh O’Neill-Trotta leading the way. He has 1.846 million, and there are at least 7 other players with 1 million or more. I’m not 100% certain of all the stacks, as I’ve had a couple of reports from players that they look incorrect on the app, and I think Nu Teliani also has 1 million plus to start the day, rather than the 730k reported in the app.
Day 1b was the biggest flight of the game, but paradoxically, it was the one that ended earliest, with 16:23 remaining in Level 20. That’s where Day 2 will begin, and Levels 21 & 22 will play at the Day 1 length of 30 minutes. Level 23 will begin the Day 2 blinds at 45 minutes.
There is $75,190 up top for the winner, and 7 players at the final table will get a 5-digit payout of at least $10,134. See the Payouts tab for all the prizes.
Cards go in the air at 1 PM, and they’ll play to a winner on Sunday. I expect very quick action to start the day, but I also expect a pretty long day before the ring is awarded.
This game will be my main focus on Sunday until a winner is decided, and I should be on the floor for the start of this one.

Level: 21 (15000/25000/25000) Entries: 42/663 (94/1,668) Prizes: $218,790 ($550,440 total) They are 8 eliminations away from the bags, with 42 players left alive now. Level 21 has just begun, so there is, at most, an hour left in this final flight. It seems likely they’ll hit 34 players before the end of Level 22, however, so it will likely end earlier.

Level: 16 (4000/8000/8000) Entries: 100/663 (152/1,668) Prizes: $218,790 ($550,440 total) They are in the money now with 100 players left. $550k in Prizes
Level: 15 (3000/6000/6000) Entries: 117/663 (169/1,668) Prizes: $218,790 ($550,440 total) The final field numbers are in and confirmed with 1d ending at 663 entries. That puts the combined field at 1,668, which comes in as the second-biggest four-flight event ever in this market. The 663 for today’s flight also looks like the biggest single flight in a four-flight event, though there’s been at least one Monster Stack flight that had more entries (though the total entries on that one were lower, as it was only two flights).
That means the final prize pool for this game is $550,440. I’m still entering all the prize pool information, and that should be posted shortly, but it looks like a good bet that first place tomorrow will be around $100k.
-
Nearing $550k in Prizes
Level: 12 (1500/3000/3000) Entries: 213/647 (265/1,652) Prizes: $213,510 ($545,160 total) Just over an hour remains in the registration period for the Mini Main Event, and the prize pool is over $545k, with 1,652 entries. That’s not quite a record for this event (that was 1,715 in January 2024), but so far, this is the biggest flight from a 4-flight event in the history of WSOP-C Calgary.
To be fair, there is a Monster Stack flight that got 850 entries a couple of years ago, but that game only has two flights. It seems likely there will still be a significant number of entries before the end of the dinner break following this level, but the 1,715 record seems a bit out of reach.
-
2 Away from 1,600 Entries
Level: 10 (1000/2000/2000) Entries: 272/593 (324/1,598) Prizes: $195,690 ($527,340 total) The 1d field is up to 593 entries, putting the combined field at 1,598 for $527,340 in prizes. More than 2 hours still remain in the registration period, so a final prize pool of more than $530k seems like a lock right now.
-
22 Away from 600 Entries on Second Break
Level: 9 (1000/1500/1500) Entries: 309/573 (361/1,578) Prizes: $189,090 ($520,740 total) The players are on the second break of the day, and the 1d field is up to 573 entries. There are still 3 hours left to enter this final flight, so I easily expect this field to cap 600 long before the end of entries.
Right now, the prizes are just over $520k, but I’ll be surprised if entries close with less than $530k in total prizes.

Mini Main Bigger than January’s 4-Flight
Level: 8 (600/1200/1200) Entries: 310/568 (362/1,573) Prizes: $187,440 ($519,090 total) The Mini Main Event has now officially capped the field from January’s 4-Flight game. There are now 8 entries ahead of January’s total, anfd there are still more than 3 hours to enter this final flight.
The combined prizes now are just shy of $520k, but I’d guess the final number will be closer to $530k for this one.
-
More than $500k, 1,500 Entries
Level: 7 (500/1000/1000) Entries: 360/515 (412/1,520) Prizes: $169,950 ($501,600 total) The Day 1d numbers are making up for the slow 1c, and the prizes are now over $500k. There are more than 500 entries in the mix so far today, and about 4 hours left to register for the Mini Main.
The field is now just 45 entries away from cracking the total from January, so it looks like a pretty good bet the game will beat that, and 1,600 total entries is still within reach. January’s fourth flight got 563 entries, but it looks like today’s flight should hit 600 or more. 600 entries today would mean 1,605 entries for prizes just below $530k.
-
Nearly $500k in Prizes
Level: 5 (300/600/600) Entries: 359/444 (411/1,449) Prizes: $146,520 ($478,170 total) Day 1d is a big one, the biggest field so far in this event, and the first break only just finished. The action has already spilled into the Chrome room as the Sindance room is full to the rafters.
Right now, the combined field for the Mini Main is at 1,450, about 115 entries away from the total from January’s 4-Flight (1,565 entries), so it looks like a reasonable bet they’ll make that number, given the current pace. How much bigger than that is an open question now, but there are still almost 5 hours left to enter today, so there’s plenty of time to hit some colossal numbers today.

How Big Will Day 1d of the Mini Main Be?

Event #4: $400 NLH Mini Main Event ($330 + $70)
Date: Day 1a: Oct 2, 4 PM
Day 1b: Oct 3, 11 AM
Day 1c: Oct 3, 4 PM
Day 1d: Oct 4, 11 AM
Day 2: Oct 5, 1 PMBlinds: 30 Minutes Starting Stack: 30k Late Entry: 12 Levels (~6:15 PM) Day 1 Ends: 22 Levels or 5% of the Starting Field (~11:30 PM) Entries: 52/1,005 Prizes: $331,650 ($255,939 moving forward to Day 2) The final flight to the Mini Main Event starts boarding at 11 AM on Sunday, and players can get on board until the start of Level 13. That should mean the last chance to buy into this one will be at about 6:15 PM on Saturday.
There are already 52 players waiting for the final day, and the field size is ahead of the 4-Flight numbers from January, though not by as much as I expected. After the opening two flights, it looked like this game could be truly massive, setting attendance records for the region.
However, a somewhat underwhelming field for Day 1c has tempered the expectations a bit. After 3 flights in January, Event #4 had 1,002 entries, while this one has 1,005. January got 563 entries on the final flight to put the final field at 1,565, and I still think that’s a very likely number to beat. However, where it looked like the game might hit 1,800 entries or more when 1b finished entries, that number is now looking a little out of reach outside of an 800+ field for 1d. At this point, it seems like a field of 1,500-1,600 for this one is very reasonable, but poker can always surprise you.
The top five stacks through three days all have 1 million or more in a bag. Day 1a leader Josh O’Neill-Trotta has the biggest with almost 1.85 million.
Best Stacks so Far
Joshua O’Neill-Trotta 1,846,000 Nicholas Lee 1,267,000 Benny Sarnelli 1,231,000 Peter Amic 1,208,000 Antonio Ma 1,156,000 1d is a morning flight, so levels will be 30 minutes long, and players will get a 45-minute dinner break at 5:30 PM at the end of Level 12, with entries closing after dinner. They’ll play to 5% of the starting field, or until the end of Level 22, whichever comes first. So far, all flights have ended early, but (perhaps ironically) the earliest end came in Day 1b, which is also the biggest flight so far. Day 1b ended with 16:23 remaining in Level 20, and so far, that’s when Day 2 looks to start.
This game should be my main focus for the day until it bags, which will be 11:30 PM at the latest.

Peter Amic is the Only Millionaire from 1c
Level: 22 (15000/30000/30000) Entries: 16/304 (52/1,005) Prizes: $100,320 ($331,650 total) The chips have all been bagged, and Peter Amic is the leader at the end of Day 1c. He bagged up 1.208 million, and will join four players from the opening two flights with more than 1 million.
He was the only player to bag more than a million, but Matt Hall, Nu Teliani, Mohsen Shafizadeh, and Keith Sarnoski rounded out the top five with between 665k & 870k.

304 Entries for 1c
Level: 13 (2000/4000/4000) Entries: 77/304 (127/1,005) Prizes: $100,320 ($331,650 total) The prizes are more than $330k after three flights of entry for the Mini Main Event. Day 1c didn’t quite maintain the hype of the opening two flights, coming in at about 80% of the size of last year’s 1c. That was still enough to keep the overall field on pace for a bigger game however, with 1,005 entries so far this series, and 1,002 at this point in January.
Day 1d will ultimately determine how big this event gets. With the smaller 1c in the books, my early estimate of 1,800+ might be a bit optimistic, but beating the 1,565 total from January still looks like a decent bet, depending on the turnout for tomorrow’s final flight.

Level: 16 (4000/8000/8000) Entries: 59/425 (73/701) Prizes: $140,250 ($231,330 total) They lost two players in the final hand on the bubble. Nearing 1000 Entries
Level: 9 (1000/1500/1500) Entries: 150/260 (229/961) Prizes: $85,800 ($317,130 total) Entries are still open for almost 2 hours in the third flight to the Mini Main, but the numbers on this one are looking a little smaller than expected, given the other two flights so far. The field is at 260 for 1c now, putting the combined field at 961. That’s still more than 100 entries off of the 1c total from January, and the three-flight total is still about 40 below the pace at this stage in January.
I do expect a lot of players from 1b to head to 1c once they bust during the upcoming money play, and there will still be brisk rebuys from players already in 1c, but this may be the first flight that doesn’t beat the January numbers.

Level: 13 (2000/4000/4000) Entries: 112/425 (126/701) Prizes: $140,250 ($231,330 total) Entries for the first two flights of the Mini Main Event are now closed, and the total field number is over 700, for $231k in prizes. That’s nearly 100 entries more than the January 4-Flight total after two flights, which was 617.
That still leaves this game on pace for a record field with as many as 1,800 entries or more by the time Saturday closes. The 425 number for 1b is still unofficial, but if it holds, then it should mean 64 players getting part of the prizes, with at least 21 of them moving to Day 2.

Less than an Hour to Enter 1b
Level: 12 (1500/3000/3000) Entries: 109/416 (123/692) Prizes: $137,280 ($228,360 total) Level 12 is nearly complete, and players are out for their dinner break after this level. Entries will be closed when they sit down for Level 13 after dinner. This flight is already about 10% better than 1b in January, so the Mini Main is still on a solid pace for record numbers.
-
1b Now Ahead of January
Level: 10 (1000/2000/2000) Entries: 147/394 (161/670 combined) Prizes: $123,519 ($210,045 Combined) There are still nearly 2 hours left to enter the second flight to the Mini Main Event, with the 3rd flight already underway across the casino in the Chrome room, and both 1a & 1b have now surpassed the January numbers for those flights in the 4-Flight game, the closest analog to this structure.
January got 378 entries for 1b, and this one is already pushing 400 entries, and will almost certainly blow past that number before entries close at about 6:15 PM (1 hour and 45 minutes from this post). It seems likely the reentries to 1b will slow considerably now that players can get into 1c in an earlier level, but I still expect to see this flight top out at around 410 entries or more.
-
More than 800 Entries for Three Flights So Far
Level: 3 (200/400/400) Entries: 119/126 (264/809) Prizes: $41,580 ($266,970 total) The combined prizes are already over a quarter of a million dollars, with Flight 1c barely underway. There are 119 entries in 1c so far, for a three-flight total of 809 and prizes of $266,970. Flight 1b still has more than an hour to rebuy, while 1c has entries open for almost 5 more hours. And, there’s still a full 1d to run tomorrow, which promises to be so big they’ll almost certainly need both Sundance and Chrome to fit all the players.
In January’s 4-Flight, 1c got 385 entries, and by the time 1c was complete, the combined field had more than 1,000 entries. Given the pace of this game, it looks like a lock that 1c will finish well above that today, possibly with 1,200 or more in total.
While I expect the entries in 1b to slow for the final hour of rebuys, the entries for 1c should be sprinting forward right through the end of entries at about 9:45 PM tonight. If 1c holds with the same increase from 1a, the flight should see 445 entries or more.

More than $200k in Combind Prizes
Level: 9 (1000/1500/1500) Entries: 187/368 (201/644 combined) Prizes: $115,368 ($201,894 Combined) The combined prize pool is now over $200k with about 3 hours left to enter flight 1b. The current two-flight field is at 644 entries, with 368 of those coming from Day 1b. That puts the 1b number about 10 entries away from 1b of the January 4-Flight, so this game is still on pace to beat that game by a large margin.
-
More than 600 Entries Combined
Level: 7 (500/1000/1000) Entries: 217/336 (231/612 combined) Prizes: $105,336 ($191,862 Combined) The 1b prizes are over $100k, with more than $190k across both days, thanks to 612 entries so far. Just under 4 hours remain in entries for Day 1b, with 1c & 1d yet to run, so this field is looking like an easy bet to beat 1,500 entries by the end of the day Saturday.
If today holds to the same pace as 1a, then the day should end with around 430 entries for 1b, That would put the total field at more than 700, with prizes of more than $220k, with two flights to run. At the end of Day 1b in January, the combined field was 617, so with today’s current numbers, they are only a few entries away from hitting that number midway through 1b.
-
Day 1b is Another Big One
Level: 6 (400/800/800) Entries: 231/316 (245/592 combined) Prizes: $99,066 ($185,592 Combined) The Mini Main Event is looking anything but “mini”. The opening flight blew past the 1a numbers for January’s 4-Flight, the previous event that most closely matches this one. 1a saw 15.5% more entries than January’s 4-Flight, and today has already blown past Deerfoot’s estimates for the 1b field.
January’s 1b saw 378 entries, so the field today is ~60 entries from capping that number, with about 4.5 hours left in entries. At this point, a field of ~400 or more for today seems like a pretty easy number to hit.
With the current numbers, the combined field is closing in on 600 already, with prizes of $185k, and it seems like a lock that there will be more than $200k in the prize pool by the time entries on 1b close around 6:15 tonight.
There’s a third flight to this event taking off in the Chrome room at 4 PM today, with the final shot at a Mini Main Event bag coming Saturday morning at 11 AM.

Third Flight to the Mini Main Boards Friday Afternoon

Event #4: $400 NLH Mini Main Event ($330 + $70)
Date: Day 1a: Oct 2, 4 PM
Day 1b: Oct 3, 11 AM
Day 1c: Oct 3, 4 PM
Day 1d: Oct 4, 11 AM
Day 2: Oct 5, 1 PMBlinds: 25(D1ac)/30(D1bd)/(D2)45 Minutes Starting Stack: 30k Late Entry: 12 Levels (~9:45 PM Day 1ac, ~6:15 PM Day 1bd) Day 1 Ends: 22 Levels or 5% of the Starting Field (~11:30 PM 1b/d, 2:40 AM 1a/c) Entries: 14/276 Prizes: $91,080 ($69,328 is going forward to Day 2) There are already 14 players waiting for Day 2 of the Mini Main Event, and the better part of $100k in the prizes so far. Day 1a of the event was huge, beating Day 1a of January’s 4-Flight game, which was Event #4 of that series and the same structure as this one.
January’s 4-Flight got 1,565 entries by the end of Saturday night, and it looks like the Mini Main Event this time could go even bigger. This time, 1a was 15.5% bigger than January, and if that holds for the rest of the flights, it could mean a field of more than 1,800 entries. That would put the total prizes at just shy of $595k, so a $600k prize pool isn’t impossible for this $400 event.
Josh O’Neill-Trotta bagged the big stack of more than 1.8 million, and he was joined in the millionaires club by Benny Sarnelli. No one else bagged a million, but there are five more stacks bigger than half a million.
Day 1b of the game kicked off at 11 AM on Friday, with this third flight starting five hours later at 4 PM. It’s a redo of 1a, with 25-minute blinds and 15-minute breaks throughout. Entries are open for 12 levels, and the desk will close for this one at about 9:45 PM. The latest the game should play is 2:40, at the end of Level 22, but Day 1a bagged about 30 minutes early, and it seems likely most flights will play to 5%.
I’ll be watching both flights for this game, but I’ll likely be a bit more focused on the morning game until it bags, after which I’ll finish the night covering this flight.

Second Flight to the Mini Main Boards Friday Morning

WSOP-C Oct 2025 Infocard
Josh O’Neill-Trotta bagged the big stack of more than 1.8 million, and he was joined in the millionaires club by Benny Sarnelli. No one else bagged a million, but there are five more stacks bigger than half a million.
That sets up Day 1b of this event, with the field already nearly 40 entries ahead of the similar game earlier in the year. 1b is the first morning flight, and those play a bit differently than the afternoon flights. Blinds for the morning are 30 minutes, and players get a 45-minute dinner break after Level 12, with registration closing after dinner when they sit down for Level 13 at about 6:15 PM. That gives 7.25 hours of real time to enter the game from the first hand.
Day 1 action runs through Level 22, or will stop when the field hits 5%. Players start getting paid on Day 1, and players finishing from 15%-5% will walk away with cash in hand. Players who put chips in a bag will have to wait for Sunday for cash, but it’s guaranteed to be bigger than anything handed out on Day 1. Also note that players who put chips in a bag can NOT play any further flights, though players have a chance to surrender bags at the end of the night for the next cash on the board.
The action for Day 1b gets going at 11 AM, and I should be on the floor watching this shortly after the first break at the latest. If the day goes the distance, players should expect to be at the table until 11:30 PM, but 1a bagged about 30 minutes early.

Sarnelli Leads Day 1a Stacks with 17 Left
Level: 21 (15000/25000/25000) Entries: 17/276 Prizes: $91,080 Benny Sarnelly has 1 million chips, and is leading the final 17 players remaining in the Mini Main Day 1a. Josh O’Neill-Trotta is second with 820k, while 3rd place only has 319k. All players are now guaranteed $902 for the rest of Day 1a.

Level: 15 (3000/6000/6000) Entries: 54/276 Prizes: $91,080 The Day 1a prizes are in, and they’ll play down to 14 players tonight (or the end of Level 22, whichever comes first). The first prize will go to the player n 42nd place tonight, and they’ll pocket $746. 18th-26th will get $784, while 14th-17th will get $902, with the rest of the 1a prizes moving to Day 2.
-
276 Entries (Unofficial) for the Mini Main 1a
Level: 13 (2000/4000/4000) Entries: 81/276 Prizes: $91,080 Entries are now closed for Day 1a of the Mini Main Event, and it was a big one. The final numbers broke the Jan 2025 total for this flight by almost 40 entries, which bodes well for a big prize pool come Sunday for Day 2.
Day 1a will end at the end of Level 22 or when they get to 14 players, whichever comes first, with a total of 42 players in the money today. That should mean as many as 28 Day 1 payouts tonight, depending on how quickly they play down.
-
1a Meets January Numbers in Level 10
Level: 10 (1000/2000/2000) Entries: 103/239 Prizes: $78,870 There is still more than an hour left to enter today’s flight, and the numbers are already equal to Jan 2025’s opening flight total with 239 entries for prizes of $78,870. The final numbers look like they’ll hit at least 250 for today, and they could go even higher before it closes.
There are three more flights after today to bag a stack for Sunday’s Day 2, and it looks like a safe bet to say the prizes for this one will be well over $500k by the time the dust settles on entries on Saturday evening.
-
Nearing January 2025 Numbers
Level: 9 (1000/1500/1500) Entries: 120/221 Prizes: $72,930 It initially didn’t look like today’s flight would get to the 239 entry mark set in Jan of this year, but with more than 20 minutes to play in Level 9, they are already at 221 entries, just 18 away from January.
That bodes will for a huge final field in this one, as January’s final number was 1,565 for more than $516k in prizes, and given the strength of Day 1a this time around, it looks like a decent bet to meet or beat that total.
-
Nearly 190 Entries in Level 8
Level: 8 (600/1200/1200) Entries: 132/189 Prizes: $62,370 There are just under 3 hours left in entries for Day 1a of the Mini Main Event, and the field is already at 189 entries. That’s about 20 ahead of Aug 2024, and just 10 behind May 2024. It looks pretty certain that both May and Aug from last year will be beaten by today’s flight, but it still doesn’t look like they’ll quite get to the Jan 2025 number of 239.
Jaskaran Brar is currently leading the field with 130k, while Ivan Chan is playing about 100k for second place.
-
Nealy 165 Entries on First Break
Level: 5 (300/600/600) Entries: 131/164 Prizes: $54,120 The opening flight to the Mini Main has 164 passengers on board during the first break of the day, with 131 players still alive. That puts the prizes now at nearly $55k and climbing.
Last August, the first flight to the 4-Flight got 167 entries, so today’s field is easily on pace to break that number, while May’s first flight saw 199 entries, which also looks pretty easy to meet or beat at this point. In January, the opening flight got 239 entries, and that number looks like it might be a bit out of reach.
Entries are still open for about 3 hours and 45 minutes today, so a field of 200+ looks pretty likely at this point.
-
Almost 90 Entries in Opening Level
Level: 2 (200/300/300) Entries: 87/89 Prizes: $29,370 The opening level of play in Day 1a of the Mini Main Event is just completing with 89 entries on the board already. That puts the prizes so far at almost $30k, but with around 5 hours of registration remaining, it seems likely this field could cap 200 for the opening day.

The Mini Main Starts Thursday Afternoon

WSOP-C Oct 2025 Infocard
Event #4: $400 NLH Mini Main Event ($330 + $70)
Date: Day 1a: Oct 2, 4 PM
Day 1b: Oct 3, 11 AM
Day 1c: Oct 3, 4 PM
Day 1d: Oct 4, 11 AM
Day 2: Oct 5, 1 PMBlinds: 25(D1ac)/30(D1bd)/(D2)45 Minutes Starting Stack: 30k Late Entry: 12 Levels (~9:45 PM Day 1ac, ~6:15 PM Day 1bd) Day 1 Ends: 22 Levels or 5% of the Starting Field It’s time for the Mini Main Event! A close look at the structure by players familiar with the 4-Flight might see some similarities with this game. Day 1a runs at 4 PM on Thursday, the first of four flights to Sunday’s Day 2.
Players start with 30k in chips and they play 25-minute levels on Day 1a & 1c, with 30 minutes for Day 1b & 1d. Day 1b/d also has a 45-minute dinner break following Level 12, whereas 1a/c only takes 15 minutes after that level. All four flights play down to 5% of the field, or the end of Level 22, whichever comes first. For Day 1b/d that should mean the bags come out no later than 11:30 PM, but 1a/c players should expect to play as late as 2:40 AM, if it goes the distance.

Tyler Panas There wasn’t a “Mini Main Event” in January, but Tyler Panas was the winner of its predecessor, the 4-Flight. He took down the top prize of more than $70k over 1,565 entries for more than $516k in prizes. Given the similar structure and the early turnout numbers, I’m expecting the Mini Main to hit a minimum of 1,300 entries by 6:15 on Saturday. If it hits that number, it would mean more than $400k in prizes, but shoot for 1,520 entries to cap half a million for the prize pool.
I likely won’t be following Day 1a of this game very closely, but I should be on Day 1b/c on Friday exclusively.

Level: 19 (10000/15000/15000) Entries: 27/425 (41/701) Prizes: $140,250 ($231,330 total) They are just breaking down to the final three tables with 27 players remaining. Level: 16 (4000/8000/8000) Entries: 59/425 (73/701) Prizes: $140,250 ($231,330 total) They lost two players in the final hand on the bubble. Level: 14 (3000/5000/5000) Entries: 74/425 (88/701) Prizes: $140,250 ($231,330 total) The prizes are in, and 64 players will get a share of the 1b prizes, but at least 22 of them will have to wait until Sunday for a payout bigger than any of the Day 1 pay. 1b Entries are Closed with 425 on the Board
-
Less than an Hour to Enter 1b
-
More than $200k in Combind Prizes

Second Flight to the Mini Main Boards Friday Morning

WSOP-C Oct 2025 Infocard

46 Players in the Money, with at Least 16 Bags
Level: 15 (3000/6000/6000) Entries: 64/304 (105/1,005) Prizes: $100,320 ($331,650 total) The prizes are in and the 1c field is confirmed at 304 entries. That means 46 players get a piece of the 1c prizes, with at least 16 of those moving forward to Day 2. See below for the Day 1c prizes, starting in 17th place.

-
Nearing 1000 Entries
-
More than 800 Entries for Three Flights So Far

-
Mini Main Bigger than January’s 4-Flight
