I wasn’t able to catch much of the action until heads up in this one, as it played down at the same time as the Main Event. Both heads up players had been here before this series. Andy Truong was heads up in the half & half, while Cristian Moldovan was heads up in the $600 Mystery Bounty.
In both of those cases, the players came second in those games, but tonight, one of them was guaranteed a ring. Andy Truong had the lead throughout the HU, but Moldovan wasn’t going easily. While he was never able to chip up to more than about 2.5 million (of 7 million in play), he also rarely put himself at risk, or chipped down below 10 bigs.
In the final hand, he shoved an offsuit ace-nine, but Truong woke up with tens and called it off. Moldovan hit his 9 on the flop, but that was all he got, and Truong scored the win.
This was Truong’s 12th live win, but his first Circuit ring. The prize should easily slot in as his second biggest score.
