Corey Arsenault was the short stack after the break, and while he managed to take a couple of pots with shoves that weren’t called, he ultimately ended his day in 4th place. In the final hand, the money went in on the K♥Q♦10♥ flop, with Arsenault shoving, Todd Oakley reshoving the big stack, and Wayne Hoffert calling off his stack as well.
Arsenault said he misread his hand, turning over jack-eight. “I thought I had jack-nine,” he said, which would have flopped the straight. Oakley was best with king-eight of clubs for top pair, but Hoffert was drawing to both hearts and Broadway with ace-three of hearts.
Hoffter turned a ten for Broadway and held. That sent Arsenault, who won two Circuit rings here in Calgary last October, to the rail for 4th, while Hoffert jumped to the big stack with around 900k now.
