While the two-hour heads-up match in the PLO Megastack was running across the room, the NLH Megastack was in the Never-Ending Bubble. In fact, the two scenarios played out in almost identical time frames, with the bags for this game coming out as I was taking the winner’s photo in the four-card version.
The biggest bag belongs to Eric Wasylenko with 659,000, with Jerry Li hot on his heels with 633k. These two have some recent history, as they were heads up in the 6-Max game last night, with Li prevailing over Wasylenko in that one. Tonight, it was Wasy with the win, while Li played second fiddle. Mal Hagan bagged third with 555k, with James Chalcroft and Chase Bonertz rounding out the top five, both bagging in the low 400s.
One of the reasons for the long day was the massive field for this one. The final tally of 177 entries blew every pregame prediction out of the water, as my prediction was 150, while the Deerfoot staff forecast 125 for this flight. The whopping $84,075 in prizes so far bodes well for a final prize pool well over $200k, with a winner’s prize of $40k or more.
