The poker.pro live reporter missed a big hand that played out at Table 3. One of the players at the table, Johnson Kitete-Kikumba, was kind enough to share with me some of the details (I’m making up the suits for aesthetic reasons).
Abdul Mukit opened to 40,000 from the Button, and Matthew Tibbles three-bet to perhaps 100,000 from the Small Blind. Mukit made the call, and soon enough, the two contestants were heads-up to the flop.
Tibbles continued on the aggressive path with a 75,000 continuation bet on the J♥5♦6♣ flop. Mukit made the call, and the dealer revealed the 9♥ on the river, bringing a flush draw to the board. Tibbles now moved all in for 360,000. This sent Mukit deep into the tank, who contemplated his decision for a long time. Eventually, he made the call.
Matthew Tibbles: K♠10♣
Abdul Mukit: 9♠8♣
A sublime call by Mukit considering the circumstances. For good measure, he improved to two-pair on the 8♦ river. Tibbles was eliminated in twenty-eighth place for £1,000.
Abdul Mukit: 1,060,000
Matthew Tibbles: 0
