After a frantic 12-hour day of poker action, only 16 players out of 133 Day 2 runners remain in the hunt for the €1,100 buy-in Kings of Vilnius Main Event title heading into the final day, all with their sights firmly set on the €63,290 first-place prize.
A total of 34 Day 2 entrants brought the total field to 327 runners, with the prize pool hitting €310,650, smashing the €250,000 guarantee. Those figures led to 41 places being paid, with a minimum cash good for a €2,200 payday. All surviving players are guaranteed a €4,000 score.
When the dust settled, Jae Han Kim of South Korea topped the standings, amassing a 1,615,000 stack primarily gained after making a turned one-card quad deuces hand against long-time chip leader Michael Kim Falcon, who jammed into him on the river with a full house and was left shell-shocked by the outcome. Kim has already bagged a third-place finish in the High Roller event during this series, and will be hoping to cap off his festival by upgrading bronze to gold by lifting the Main Event title.
Kim holds a healthy lead over Lithuanian players Egidijus Digrys (975,000) and Mantas Bagocius (910,000), while fellow countrymen Liutauras Armanavicius (210,000) and Ridas Bitauskas (285,000) will come into the final day as the short-stacks.
Dmitri Dudakov was the unfortunate player to bubble, which ended up being an 80-minute battle of endurance and patience for the players. Once the players were in the money, numerous short-stacks busted in rapid fashion, including defending champion Aurimas Stanevicius.
