Jan Rofuli Dissects the Competition to Take Down Event #3:$670 NLH ($27,280)

Jan Rofuli Takes Down Event #3: $670 NLH

After nearly 10 hours of play, Jan Rofuli has outlasted the field to take down his first PPT trophy. Event #3: $670 NLH drew 202 unique entries with for a combined prize pool of $115,140. Rofuli entered the day with an average stack of 178,000 (45 big blinds). His day started slow with him patiently picking his spots and waiting for hands.

This approach paid off as he found himself third in chips by the second break. Entering the final table, he sat fourth in chips with a stack of 728,000. He quickly found an elimination on Nu Teliani with top pair nut flush draw, and didn’t look back. A hero call saw Rofuli’s stack soar near the one million mark.

Chips were quick to move on the final table, as Rofuli found another elimination with big slick. With play having dwindled down to just three-handed, Rofuli found value with pocket tens on a dicey board. Shortly after, he eliminated the short-stacked Kim Graham to bring play heads-up. Rofuli admitted he was lacking in tournament experience, but you wouldn’t know that from watching his play.

He took aggressive lines at key times to hold a massive chip lead over Antonio Ma. Ma wouldn’t go down without a fight, winning sizeable pots to even out the chip stacks. However, it would be short lived. Rofuli would apply maximum pressure to take an overwhelming chip lead over Ma. Shortly after, Rofuli double check raised Ma, forcing him all in. Ma couldn’t get away, and Rofuli’s turned straight had the outcome determined before the river.
