It was a blind on blind hand between the two chip leaders at the table. “I know if I just call, you’ll raise me,” Bill Thomson, in the small blind, said. Ultimately, he still decided to limp in.

His prediction was correct – big blind Jim Berry shoved 805k. That sent Thomson into the tank for a couple of minutes as he talked through his options before finally making the call.

Thomson was looking for an ace with ace-seven against pocket nines for Berry. Thomson found what he needed, and then some, on the A53A7 board.

Berry had the big stack, but only by about 50k, which he lost on the next hand. Meanwhile, Thomson is now the big leader with about 1.5 million in play.
