Perhaps at the tenth hand of the heads-up battle, all the money went into the middle. Konstantin Arber was the player at risk; if he doubled his 1,440,000 through Arunas Satkus, it would be somewhat even stacks.
Konstantin Arber: 10♠10♦
Arunas Satkus: A♥Q♠
Arber was slightly ahead with his pocket pair, but Satkus wasted zero time overtaking the lead thanks to the 4♠A♣3♠ flop. No help for Arber on either the J♣ or the 6♠, and that settled it. Arber was eliminated in second place for €22,060, but, as he said himself, “This was the poker comeback of a lifetime.” When nine players remained, he had less than one Big Blind, and somehow, he managed to convert it. Hats off.
