The chip leader going into Day 2, Benjamin Liu, opened to 9,000 UTG. Mark Elliott (Cut-off) and Timothy Chung (Small Blind) both made the call before Alex Whitenstall moved all in for 58,000 from the Big Blind. Liu re-shoved for roughly 1,000,000, and that scared the remaining players away.
Alex Whitenstall: K♥10♥
Benjamin Liu: A♥9♥
Both players improved to a pair on the K♣5♠A♠ flop. Whitenstall didn’t improve any further on the 7♥2♥ runout, and as he hit the rail, Liu extended his chip lead even further.
Seated on the same table is the newest addition to the team of PartyPoker Tour Ambassadors, Daniel Diaz. He and Joe “The Elegance” Beevers were the only two ambassadors who made it through to Day 2.
Benjamin Liu: 1,280,000
Alex Whitenstall: 0
