Main Event Time!

Date:Mar 6, 1 PM
Blinds:40 MInutes (Day 1)
Starting Stack:40k
Late Entry:9 Levels (~8:15 PM)
Day 1 Ends:12.5% of the Field, in the Money

It’s Main Event time on the Pure Poker Tour. The first NLH Main Event of 2026 is set to begin on Friday at 1 PM, while the newly added four-card version will play down to a winner.

Players get 40k in chips to start, and Day 1 blinds are 40 minutes (60 minutes on Day 2). The registration station is open for 9 levels during Day 1, with the scheduled close at 8:15 PM when players return from dinner for Level 10.

Day 1 continues until the field hits 12.5% of the starting field, when all remaining players will bag their chips for Sunday’s Day 2. All players returning on Day 2 are guaranteed a payout, and this is a “best stack forward” event, meaning that players who bag Day 1a can still play in Day 1b to try to increase their stack. Players who bag twice will play the big stack on Sunday, while immediately scoring a min-cash for the small bag.

The big question going into this game is whether Pav Braich can make it three in a row. He stepped up at the end of 2025 to go back-to-back Main Events, taking down the final two Mains of the year. The only other player to do that on the PPT so far is Eric Wasylenko, so it’s a pretty exclusive club. If he manages to make it three in a row, however, he’ll be in a class of his own.

I’ll be focusing most of my early attention on the PLO Main Event, which finishes on Friday, but I should be around for the final few levels of Day 1a in this one.
