Lev Margolin had been nursing a short stack for most of the day at the featured table, doing his best to survive. He was pleased to look down at A♣5♦ on the button and moved all-in for just over three big blinds. Unfortunately for him, Paul Newey woke up with a stronger ace in the big blind and made the quick call after the small blind got out of the way.
The flop came 2♣4♥6♥, giving the Israeli a gutshot straight draw along with his five as an out. The turn 7♥ took a couple of outs away, leaving Margolin needing a non-heart three or eight to stay alive.
The river brought the 2♥, completing Newey’s flush and eliminating Margolin in 13th place for €10,750.
