UTG, Steven O’Toole limped the 800 required. Shaun Woodford called from the Lo-jack. Before big-stacked Michael Stanley made it 2,600 from the Hi-jack. Gareth Williams (Button), O’Toole, and Woodford all made the call.
Action was checked to Stanley on the J♣9♦2♦ flop, and he continued for 2,600. Williams was the only player who made the call, and the dealer presented the 5♥ on the turn. Stanley didn’t slow down; he fired a 10,000 bet, and Williams made the call as fast.
Stanley didn’t seem to be concerned that the 6♦ river completed an eventual flush draw; fast and deliberate, he bet 15,000, and Williams was visibly agonized. After twisting and turning for a minute or two in his chair, he made the call.
Much to his displeasure, Stanley turned over A♥J♠, which appeared to be enough. Being a good sport, Williams congratulated his opponent on a “nice hand”.
Michael Stanley: 251,000
Gareth Williams: 45,500
