Opening Flight to the Main Event Runs on Friday

Date:Aug 8, Noon
Blinds:40 Minutes (60 Minutes on Day 2)
Starting Stack:40k
Late Entry:12 Levels (~9:30)
Day 1 Ends:10% of the Field or the End of Level 15

The Main Event is upon us, with the first ME action kicking off at noon on Friday. Friday is the first of two starting days for the Main, and I predict more than 350 entries for the game before the end of entries on Saturday.

Players get 40k in chips to start the day, and they play 40-minute levels on Day 1. Players can enter the game for 12 levels, with the final chance for chips coming at about 9:30 PM.

This game is somewhat different than the other multi-day games in this series, as it will bag up at the end of Level 15, even if they haven’t hit 10% of the field yet. If they make it to 10% before the end of 15, the bags will come out early, but with a 40k starting stack, that seems unlikely. That means that Day 2 players won’t necessarily be in the money on Day 2 for this game.

Alex Liu (R), winner of the Main Event, & David Swaim (L), runner-up in the Main Event

In the Spring, Alex Liu took down the game after a heads-up deal with David Swaim. Swaim got an extra $12k for a total of $70k for second, while Liu pocketed $78,609.

I won’t likely be following this one very closely on Friday’s Day 1a, as I’ll be focused on Day 2 of the Megastack, which also runs Friday. However, once that game ends, this one will be my second priority.
