After nearly 16 hours at the tables, Praba Siva has gone back-to-back with his second ring. Not only is it his second ring, but he won his first ring in this very event in January of this year.
In general, this isn’t an easy tournament to win, as it requires mastery of both two-card and four-card poker, but today’s game may have been even more difficult. When they got down to the final table, it included players like Dylan Payne, Colten Yamagishi, 3rd place Scott Stuve, Ning Wang, Deven Lane, Kurtis Ruhl, Clint Clarkson, Debi Loomer, and the runner-up Andy Truong — it was pretty hard to point to an “easy spot” in the group.
The early game played pretty quickly tonight, but once they got to the final table it ground to a halt. Debi Loomer left the ten-handed FT relatively quickly in 10th, but they played 9-handed for about 90 minutes before Colten Yamagishi opened the floodgates. They went from 9 to 4 in less than a level, then battled four-handed for a bit, but the blinds were getting big and the stacks short.
Siva was running pure, holding a stack near the top of the list for pretty much the whole game. He was almost down and out after Deven Lane took a big double off of him, but he got it right back a few hands later. He put Lane back on fumes in a spot where they both flopped trip sevens, and it looked like a chop pot until Siva turned the boat.
Siva then sent Scott Stuve out in 3rd place to set up a quick heads-up. Both he and Truong were happy to get their chips in, and Siva won it when he cracked Truong’s aces with the spade flush to end the game.
