Deniz Orhan attempted to limp from the Button, but Ronnie Marland raised to 485,000. Orhan wasn’t going anywhere just yet, and he made the call.
Marland continued the aggressive path on the J♠4♥K♣ flop and bet 365,000. Orhan called, and the 4♠ was dealt on the turn. Marland now bet 855,000, and after a minute or two in the tank. Orhan moved all in for around 5,700,000. After some consideration, Marland made the call.
Deniz Orhan: A♦4♦
Ronnie Marland: K♦J♥
“What a lovely turn,” Orhan stated, and the 5♠ didn’t see Marland re-take the lead. Orhan won the biggest pot of the day, and Marland was left with just 135,000 – less than one Big Blind.
Being forced all in, Marland managed to survive the next hand with K♠10♠ against the J♠6♥ of Orhan. The following hand he was pot committed and more or less had to get it all in there.
Deniz Orhan: J♣8♣
Ronnie Marland: 5♥3♦
The 8♦7♠2♣J♥K♦ runout sealed Marland’s faith. He was eliminated in second place for £16,235; even though it may hurt coming up short, Marland should be very pleased with his performance.
