Sebastian Crema had the chip lead early on at the final table, but he still ended up second. He didn’t even do anything wrong — instead, winner Juan Riedinger put on a show to chip up in the endgame from one of the shorter stacks to the winner.
Crema played a solid game, maintaining his stack for most of the money play, but by the time they got heads up, it was pretty even between them. Riedinger was able to chip up in a couple of non-showdown hands before the big confrontation came.
Riedinger opened the button to 32k and Crema shoved his big blind. Riedinger spent a few seconds counting out his stack and considering the odds and blinds, and said “OK, let’s do it.”
It was a flip between Crema’s fours and J♠9♠ for Riedinger, Crema flopped clean with some backdoor straight outs, but Riedinger turned it over with a nine and held to take it down with a board of 6♦5♣A♣9♦K♣. This was Crema’s second runner-up finish this series — he was also second to Teo Snachez in the Half & Half.
