Vidar Assersen open-shoved for 185,000 from the Lo-jack. Latvia’s Krisjanis Stankevics moved all in for roughly 250,000 from the Small Blind, and the two of them were soon heads-up to the flop.
Vidar Assersen: A♠7♦
Krisjanis Stankevics: A♥Q♠
Assersen was out on deep water, and things didn’t look any brighter on the J♣2♥A♣ flop. “Seven’s always coming,” Assersen’s Norwegian friend told him from the rail. Said and done, Assersen improved to two-pair on the 7♣ turn, and the 9♣ river didn’t see Stankevics reclaim the lead. As such, Assersen received a full double-up, taking the larger chunk out of Stankevics’ stack.
Vidar Assersen: 410,000
Krisjanis Stankevics: 70,000
