Teo Sanchez Defeats Mal Hagan Heads Up in NLH/PLO

It’s probably safe to say Teo Sanchez knows how to play the 2-card/4-card mix – this is far from his first time in the endgame of this tournament. He won it last spring in an epic heads-up battle with Skyler York, and then had to settle for second place to Julius Roque in the Summer series version of this one.

Tonight, he was atop the podium again, after cruising through the game with a big stack for most of it. Sanchez looked to be responsible for all the busts in the money, and got heads up against Mal Hagan with the big lead. Hagan made a strong run of it, doubling to close to even at one point, but Sanchez’s relentless aggression whittled down Hagan’s stack as he went card dead through much of the penultimate level.

The money went in during a four-card round with Hagan on aces with a suit. Sanchez had AJ86, and he flopped a straight to queen to leave Hagan’s aces in rough shape. There was no miracle runout for the man from Langley, and he had to settle for second.

This was Sanchez’s second live win, after his win in this very event last Spring. The scroe should push him over $75k in live earnings.
