It’s been few days since the last Brit report, thanks to a bout of man-flu that forced my inactivity. I’ve now recovered and while I was convalescing, two more bracelets have been won by British players at the WSOP…and it was very nearly three!
Benny, the Eighth Wonder of the Poker World

Once again Benny Glaser was one of the British players to taste success over the last few days at the 2025 WSOP. He scored his third bracelet of the current campaign and his eighth in total, when winning Event #56 $2,500 Mixed Triple Draw Lowball.
With seven players left Glaser was the short-stack and in danger of being the first one out on the final day, but the mixed game specialist bounced back. At three-handed he was still the short-stack, but somehow managed to claw his way back into contention. It was a long and hard fought final table with Glaser eventually prevailing for his 8th WSOP bracelet and the $208,552 first prize.
Glaser, who now retakes the lead in the Player of the Series race, described the win as “outrageous,” referring to the feat of winning three in the same series. Only a handful of players have ever won three bracelets in the same year, but Benny hinted that more could be possible, adding “it’s not even over yet” during his post victory interview.
Four other Brits cashed in the event.
Position | Player | Prize |
---|---|---|
1 | Benny Glaser | $208,552 |
16 | David Tarbet | $10,495 |
22 | Jon Shoreman | $8,605 |
46 | Adam Owen | $5,272 |
53 | Stephen Moreschi | $5,147 |
Robert Wells is the 9-Game Champion

Mixed games specialist Robert Wells was runner up twice at the 2024 WSOP, in the $3,000 Limit Hold’em and $1,500 Dealer’s Choice. Wells, a Welshman who lives in London has now gone one better and claimed his first bracelet, winning Event #58 $1,500 Nine Game Mix. He defeated Canadian Thomas Taylor heads-up to take the $228,115 first prize, his fourth cash of the 2025 WSOP. His victory is the 5th bracelet for players from the UK at the 2025 WSOP.
Taylor went into the heads up stage of the tournament with the chip lead. However after ousting Fu Wong in 3rd in a 2-7 draw hand, Wells had significantly closed the gap, with 7.2m chips to Taylor’s 9.1m.
Taylor held the lead for the first 30-minutes of the final match up, before Wells took command of situation in a 7-card stud hand. The stacks remained quite even during the next passage of play, during which Tom briefly re-took the lead. But Wells then took a big lead during two Stud Hi-Lo hands; and from then on, he never looked back. Philip Stermheimer finished 9th for $19,134, and Elior Sion was 25th for $8,158.
Yiannis Liperis Win Bet MGM $2k Mystery Bounty for $172,950
Another British success has come to light, congratulations to Yiannis Liperis for taking down the $2k Mystery Bounty at the MGM Grand. Including mystery bounties, Yiannis cashed for a lifetime best of $172,950.
2nd & 3rd for Chidwick & Gryko in $50k PLO High Roller
No further bracelets for Britain, but it was oh so close, with Stephen Chidwick and Richard Gryko both denied another’s WSOP victory (Chidwick has two bracelets already, Gryko one) in Event #57 $50,000 Pot -Limit Omaha High Roller. Dylan Linde, scoring his third career bracelet was the one to deny them, first taking out Gryko in a massive pot, before completing the job against short-stacked Chidwick. Both cashed for over $1m, despite not securing the wrist-wear.

Position | Player | Prize |
---|---|---|
2 | Stephen Chidwick | $1,430,938 |
3 | Richard Gryko | $1,000,423 |
30 | Philip Sternheimer | $100,000 |

Talal Shakerchi 5th in $25k PLO High Roller for $539,817
Talal Shakerchi was one of only two British players who cashed in Event #51 $25,000 PLO High Roller and the only one who made the final table, finishing 5th for over half a million dollars. Double bracelet holder Rob Cowen was the other, finishing 34th for $61,103.

Shakerchi, a hedge fund manager by trade, has won many high roller events before, including going back-to-back in $25K events at the Aria in 2017. He does not yet have a WSOP bracelet, but went closest in 2023 with runner-up spot in the $50k Mixed Games Championship. This was the same year that he won the Triton $100k Main Event for $3.25m. But that’s not even his biggest cash, as runner up spot in the $250k Luxon Invitational at Triton London, also in 2023, netted him a payday of $4.65m.
Charlie Cuff 8th in Event #52 $1,500 Freezeout No Limit for $48,892
Fourteen players from the UK made the money in Event #52 $1,500 Freezeout No Limit, which had a total of 2,320 entrants. Charlie Cuff was the only one to make the final table, busting in 8th for $48,892. He had flopped top pair on a 6♥9♦8♠ flop, improving to trips when 9♥ fell on the flop. Having re-raised on the turn, Cuff moved all-in on a 7♦ river, but his opponent Michael Rossitto, holding a ten, had made a straight, to bring Cuff’s tournament to an end.

Patrick Leonard Only UK Player to Cash in $10k H.O.R.S.E
Patrick Leonard’s 24th place for $20,000 in Event #55 $10,000 H.O.R.S.E was his tenth cash of the 2025 series. The series started well for Leonard, going close in the $25k Heads Up Championship, where he finished 3rd and just missing the final in the seven-handed $1,500 Mixed Omaha 8 or Better, exit in 9th. Since then he has cashed a further eight times, but is yet to make another really deep run.
Senior Moment for Bradshaw
Yucel ‘Mad Turk’ Eminoglu had a torturous start to his 2025 Las Vegas campaign, taking almost two weeks to get his first cash of the trip. He had gone into Day 3 of Event #48 $1,000 Seniors as one of the chip leaders, with over 2m and just over 200 players left in. Andy Bradshaw was placed well, one of 5 other British poker players to have made it this far in the 7,575 runner field, which required two starting days.
While his first cash of the trip was achieved, Turk did not go as deep in the event as he might have hoped, busting in 99th for $5,444.
Andy Bradshaw had pressed on further than Turk and was flying high, aiming for a seat on the final table, when disaster struck. Having recently chipped up into the top 10, he shoved his queens into a flopped flush, exiting in 20th for $27,048. Bradshaw was philosophical about it afterwards, posting on facebook

The highest finishing Briton was William Gibbons, 10th for $52,918. I total 27 players from the UK cashed in the Seniors. Congratulations to all!

Five Brits Left for Day 4 of Millionaire Maker
Event #53, the $1,500 Millionaire Maker is now moving into Day 4, with 44 players left, from 11,996 entries. All who have made it this far are guaranteed to be paid at least $40,580 (before tax) with not just one millionaire being created from the near $16m prize pool, but two.
Five of those left are from the UK, with Bixi Yao leading the way. She is in 17th place overall, with a slightly below average 6.5m chip stack. The other four British players are relatively short-stacked. Many players from the UK cashed in the Milly Maker, which had four starting days. Details of all British cashes will be confirmed after the conclusion of the event.

Going to Vegas
With the WSOP now into the second half of the schedule and the Main Event looming, many more players have recently flown to Las Vegas and many more are expected to join them.

Amongst those who landed in the last week are Sam Acheampong and Dillan Patel (pictured above0, who headed over soon after participating in the Beer Poker Tour London, at Genting Stratford. They both made the final in the poker.pro £150 4/5/6 Card Omaha, which had nearly 200 entries. They have been joined in Las Vegas by fellow Team Aspers member (if that’s still a thing, given that Aspers is now gone) Tony Poulengeris, who has recently made the journey over. Ex-footballer Steve Watts has also been spotted in business class, Vegas bound.

Will Kassouf is due to head over within the next week, which should add fuel to the Martin Kabrhel fire that seems to be burning in Las Vegas right now. God forbid they get on the same table, a celebrity poker death match could ensue. Who would come out still breathing?
Returning From Vegas
While more players from the UK are Vegas bound, some have already completed their annual pilgrimage to the city in the desert. Hamid Rowshanaei was one such player, who spent the first two weeks in Las Vegas, but is now back home. Hamid cashed in three out of three of the $250 Daily Deepstacks that he played in, having a modestly successful trip.

Once back in the UK, Hamid had immediate success at the Beer Poker Tour London, where he won the Beerpot side event, scooping eight free drinks vouchers along with the Beer Mug trophy and the yet to be confirmed first prize.
