The World Poker Tour returns to Australia this September for its fifth edition—and this time, it’s swapping the Gold Coast for the glittering skyline of Sydney. From September 18 to October 1, 2025, The Star Sydney will play host to 32 trophy events and a full slate of satellites, with buy-ins ranging from AUD 150 all the way up to AUD 20,000.
The crown jewel of the series is the WPT Australia Championship, which runs from September 25 to October 1 with three Day 1 flights and a buy-in of AUD 5,500. As always, the winner will earn their name on the Mike Sexton WPT Champions Cup and claim a major title on one of the biggest poker stages in the southern hemisphere.

An estimated AUD 10 Million Prize Pool and an Added Team of the Festival
Organizers are estimating this year’s festival will boast a total prize pool of around AUD 10 million, giving players even more incentive to chase glory. The schedule mixes unique Aussie-themed events like the Mystery Bounty, Croc Hunter Bounty, and Ned Kelly Double Bullet with high-roller standouts such as the AUD 20K Super High Roller and AUD 10K WPT World Championship Warm-Up.
Another big twist for 2025 is the introduction of the “Team of the Festival” leaderboard, running alongside the popular Player of the Festival race. And for those with Vegas dreams, 11 WPT World Championship Passports will be awarded across various tournaments throughout the series—each worth a trip to Las Vegas this December.
