The penultimate weekend of the 2025 World Series of Poker is now complete and as the series is winding down, the number of events to report on each day is dropping fast as well. At this stage of the series, the Main Event is looming large for most players, but there are still side events running as well for the players unlucky enough to have an early exit in the Main.
Canadians continue to do well across all varieties of the game, though the country is still yet to find more than two bracelets so far this year. No shortage of Canadians are making the effort, however, with Santiago Plante and Thomas Taylor both finding final table scores just a few spots short of bracelets on the weekend.

Day 1c/d Draw Big Canadian Numbers
When the action came to a close on the final Day 1 flight to the Main on Saturday, 231 Canadians had found a bag for one of two Day 2 flights. Greg Mueller was the big Canadian bag from Day 1d, and he led all Canadian bags, but Umang “Ronnie” Dattani led the way into the opening Day 2 flight with about 210k.
The 1d flight was by far the biggest, both overall and for Canadians. More Canadians bagged in Day 1d than in a, b, & c combined, with the opening Day 2 set to run on Sunday.
46 Canadians Remain After First Day 2 of Main
There were 82 Canadians who found their way into the first of two Day 2 flights. The opening Day 2 combined the bags of Days 1a, b, & c, and when the dust settled on the day, more than half the Canadians who started the day still had chips.
Qualifiers from Day 1d will sit down to action on Monday to determine who ends up in the first completely combined day of the Main, Day 3. Jonah Silverstein leads the 46 Canadian bags from Day 2abc with almost 560k, while Umang “Ronnie” Dattani bagged up the #2 stack worth ~490k. Among the other Canadians to find a bag after the day were Derek Dufour, Erik Lemarquand, Jon Pardy, Thi “Annee” Ngo, Daniel Negreanu, Big Brother Canada champ Kevin Martin, and Ami Barer.
The final Day 2 flight will run on Monday, featuring Canadian big bag Mueller, as well as notables like Christopher Alcindor, Sen Vijayaratnam, Jeffrey Mulder, Eric Cajelais, Elizabeth Boles, Thomas Taylor, Mike Leah, Tyker Warken, Colten Yamagiushi, and Vanessa Kade, all with 100k or more in their bags.
Plante & Taylor with Final Tables

There were two deep runs on the weekend, with Santiago Plante and Thomas Taylor both scoring decent cashes in bracelet events. Plante was among the leaders after the opening day of play in Event #84: $1,000 No-Limit Holdem, and stayed with the leaders through much of the second day as well.
Plante was 5th in chips after the opening day in this one, looking way up at the leader Shaun Deeb, who has surged in the final weeks of the series to win another bracelet and take over the lead in the Player of the Year race. Plante battled through Day 2 before falling just after the official final table was set, grabbing 9th place for just over $20k.
Taylor with 11th Cash of the Series
By nearly anyone’s measure, Thomas Taylor has had a great series. This weekend he picked up his 11th cash of the series on his way to 7th place in Event #82, the $10k 8-Game. Those 11 cashes include several final table appearances and 2 runner-up finishes, in the $3k 9-game and the $1.5k HORSE.

He’s cashed for just over $500k so far this series, including a couple of six-figure banks for his two runner-up results. For nearly any player, that would be a very successful series, but for Taylor, he has his eyes set on one goal: his first bracelet and, at least so far, he’s fallen just short. My guess is, he’d give all 11 cashes back for just a single bracelet from the summer, but he still has a few events left to bag it up.
Livingston Collects 13th Cash of Series, 14th of Summer

Alex Livingston has been among the most consistent Canadians this series. He’s bagged 13 cashes in WSOP-branded events, and as if that wasn’t enough poker, he also went across town to the Wynn to bag a score in early June.
That gave him 14 total cashes this summer in Las Vegas for combined prizes of more than $286k His latest cash came near the end of last week with a modest result in Event #83: $2,500 Freezeout No-Limit Hold’em.
