Mortensen chose to donk bet 80,000 on the K♥A♠6♣ flop, and Sirbu made the call. Mortensen slowed down and proceeded to check-call a 50,000 bet from Sirbu on the 7♠ turn. The river was the A♦, pairing the board, and Mortensen now bet 225,000. This had Sirbu visibly troubled. “It doesn’t make sense,” he scratched his head. After perhaps two minutes’ worth of pondering, he decided to let his hand go.
“Show me,” Sirbu urged his opponent. “I’m not sure you want to see it,” Mortensen replied, as he revealed his J♦5♠ holdings. The table shared a laugh, and being a good sport, Sirbu bro-fisted his opponent.
