Day 1a is in the books, but it was a marathon. Play lasted until well into Level 18 after going hand-for-hand in Level 16. When the dust finally settled, Raj Sabanathan was playing the big stack with just under 700k in his bag. Todd “The Rock” bagged stack #2 from 1a with just under 400k in his bag while JJ Johnstone, Antono Ma, and Lapchi Duong all bagged 375k+ to round out the top five counts.

Day 1b will be a redo of Day 1a with the game starting at noon and players sitting down with 30k in chips. They play 12×40-minute levels with entries open, making the final chance to enter at about 9:30 pm. After that, they’ll play as long as it takes to get down to 10% of the starting field.

Day 1a’s 103 entries has already built a prize pool of nearly $50k, and the 1b expectations are always bigger than 1a, so a final prize pool of $100k+ looks like a lock by the end of entries for Wednesday’s final flight. I’ll likely be a bit late to the floor for 1b, but I should be there before the first break of the day.
