Normunds Rumba opened to 50,000 from the cutoff, and received calls from Hryhorii Meleshenko and Marijus Dirgela in the blinds.
On the 8♣7♦2♥ flop, action was checked to Dirgela, who led out with a bet of 60,000.
Rumba responded with a raise to 180,000. A bizarre period of time then followed where Dirgela required numerous confirmations from the dealer as to how much he had to pay to call.
Dirgela announced call, but threw in around 400,000 worth of chips. It was ruled as a call.
The 8♠ turn was checked to the 3♣ river, where Dirgela checked once more.
Rumba jammed for 430,000, and after a long period in the tank, most of it spent with his head in his hands, Dirgela made the call.
Rumba tabled A♦8♥ for trip eights, and Dirgela’s A♥7♠ for two pair could not better that.
A huge pot for Rumba, propelling him into the chip lead.
Normunds Rumba – 1,305,000
Marijus Dirgela – 465,000
