2025 Spring Super Stack – Event #15: $340 PLO Bounty

When the players returned from the break following Level 21, the first hand was dealt but never played. Instead, they sat on their cards and talked deal, finally hashing out an agreement that gave the big chip leader, Hoshang Sarwary, the win and $4,250 (plus four bounties). Richard Kosterman secured second place worth $3,725 with 7 additional bounties, while Viet Do got third for $3,382 plus 8 bounties.

Hoshang Sarwary is still leading at the break with 1.1 million. Rick Kosterman is second with 665k while Viet Do is playing 550k.

“Always 4th,” Arnel Alontave said with a smile as he walked to the payout desk. He was also fourth in last night’s PLO Megstack, so it’s clear he’s knows his 4-card poker pretty well. Tonight, his final hand saw him run A♥K♠8♥5♠ into Q♠Q♣7♣5♠ for Rick Kosterman.

Alontave called preflop before Kosterman potted it. Alontave repotted and Kosterman called. The board ran out 10♠2♥6♣2♠4♠ to keep the queens in front. His final score tonight was just over $2k as he also picked up 3 bounties.

I missed the action, but Brenton Pilling was the 5th-place finisher tonight. He also picked up four bounties along the way for a final payout of $1,604 including the bounties.

Dominck French, the flag hunter extraordinaire from 2024, ended his run tonight in 6th place. He potted from the button, the called off his stack when Hoshang Sarwary repotted from the small blind. He was looking for hearts or a seven as he was in with ten-seven-seven five with to hearts against queen-queen-five-five for Sarwary. The queens held, and French picked another Canadian flag. He also picked up seven bounties along the way for an extra $700.

It’s the night for cracked aces apparently. Darrell Moore just suffered the same fate when Rick Kosterman’s kings flopped a set and the win.

They are down to 7 quickly now after Gerry Edwards and Marcio Kondo went out in eerily similar ways. Edwards was first out the door in 9th when he got his short stack in with aces and Dom French called with kings. A king on the flop sealed the deal for French, and Edwards was first off the final table thanks to cracked aces.

A couple of hands later, it was Marcio Kondo’s turn. Once again, he was in with aces, and called by kings. Once again, the king came on board to crack the aces and send Kondo out.

Kirk Miller was the bubble player tonight. He was short with just 34k behind, and he shoved under the gun with A♠Q♠J♠7♠ and Arnel Alontave called from the button with 10♦9♦8♦8♠. Alontave hit his set of eights on the flop, and the final table was set.

They are down to the money bubble now with 10 players left. Brady O’Hara was the most recent exit in 11th place. Juss Viet has chipped up to about 500k now for what looks like the second-place stack.

He has a stack of bounty chips in front of him and close to 600k to get more. He recently sent Mohsen Shafizadeh to the rail to jump from the low 500s to his current heights.

The final two tables in the PLO Bounty are on break now, and it looks like Nate Habte leads the way. He’s playing almost 350k with Andy Truong, also at the same table, playing about 250k in second. Level 2 ahs just begun in the side game tonight with 35 entries on the board and combined prizes of $10,150. $3.5k of that is in the bounty pool with the rest in prizes. Entries are still open for about 3 hours.

The side game on Friday evening is a PLO Bounty game starting at 7 pm. Players sit down with 25k in chips for 20-minute levels until a winner is decided.

Entries are open for 9 levels, with the desk set to shut down at about 10:30 pm tonight. Depending on the sie of the field, this could be a late one. I likely won’t be watching it very closely in the early levels of play, but will be over for the endgame once the opening flight of the Main EVent bags and tags at the end of the night.
