Alisasis/Edwards Chop for the Win
Level: 28 (50000/100000/100000) Entries: 1/131 Prizes: $19,290 Local Time: 4:45 AM

After a couple of heads-up hands, and with all players getting quite tired, the final two teams decided to chop it up. Gerry Edwards & Dane Alisasis had the chip lead, so they took the official win, but they chopped the money evenly with Ed Gaetz & Craig Golemblaski, with each team splitting $4,389.
The game took about 11 hours to finish, with about 3 hours of that on the final table.

Balic/Markoff Out in 3rd Place for $2,508
Level: 28 (50000/100000/100000) Entries: 2/131 Prizes: $19,290 Local Time: 4:30 AM
Suzie Markoff shoved the small blind, and after a bit of a tank, Ed Gaetz of Team Gaetz/Golemblaski called it off with more, looking for “live cards”.
He was live with queen-four offsuit against king-seven of spades for Markoff. Most of the board ran clean for the ladies, but when the river came on 9♥3♠5♥9♣Q♥, Gaetz queen sent Markoff and Balic to the cage for 3rd place money.

Markoff/Balic Get the Double
Level: 26 (30000/60000/60000) Entries: 3/131 Prizes: $19,290 Local Time: 4:10 AM Dane Alisassis raised to 500k, enough to put Fred Balic all in. She tanked for a bit and consulted her partner Suzi Markoff, before sliding out her stack for the call.
It was a fair fight between ace-eight of spades for the Balic and king-ten of diamonds for Alisasis. Alisasis found a ten on the flop, while Balic paired her eight. The turn brought her two pair with the ace, and the river bricked to give Balic a double from 480k to over a million.

In the Money with 12 Remaining
Level: 20 (8000/16000/16000) Entries: 12/131 Prizes: $19,290 Local Time: 1:35 AM The Team game is in the money now with 12 teams remaining. Michael Wilder & Brandon Chow took the min-cash spot in 13th place just recently, and it still looks like Kelly Gall & Maru Somers are leading the way, but Fred Balic & Suzie Markoff are also playing more than 500k.

Level: 17 (4000/8000/8000) Entries: 18/131 Prizes: $19,290 Local Time: 12:25 AM The Team game is breaking down to the final two tables now, with 18 teams remaining. That puts them 5 eliminations off the money

Gall/Somers Nearing 700k
Level: 17 (4000/8000/8000) Entries: 20/131 Prizes: $19,290 Local Time: 12:15 AM
The Team game is down to 20 left on the break following Level 16. Maruy Somers and Kelly Gall are still leading the way with nearly 700k now. They lost a small pot to team Matsui just before the break to drop a bit below 700k, but it looks like no one else in the room even has 400k. Gall & Somers also teamed up last summer for this team game, and ended up 3rd in that one, so they seem to make a pretty solid team.
-
Gall/Somers Leading
Level: 15 (2500/5000/5000) Entries: 23/131 Prizes: $19,290 Local Time: 11:30 PM The team game is down to 23 remaining now, 10 off the money spots, and it looks like the team of Kelly Gall & Maru Somers is the clear leader. They are playing more than 500k right now, with the other big stacks around the room in the 300k range.

29 Teams Left; 13 Teams Paid
Level: 12 (1500/2500/2500) Entries: 29/131 Prizes: $19,290 Local Time: 10:40 PM The prizes are in, and 13 teams will get a piece of the prizes tonight. There is more than $5k up top for the winning team, with the 13th-place team pocketing $347.

Entries are Closed, Teams are Combined
Level: 11 (1000/2000/2000) Entries: 34/131 Prizes: $19,290 Local Time: 10:15 PM About 7 minutes are left in Level 11, with 34 teams left in the action, and all the teams are now combined for regular team-game play. The final number of entries on the board is 131, but I’m waiting for the prizes to confirm the final numbers. At the moment, it looks like 4 teams will be getting a piece of the $19k in prizes, but I’ll confirm all that when the prizes are posted shortly.
-
100 Entries in the Team Game
Level: 7 (400/800/800) Entries: 82/100 Prizes: $14,725 Local Time: 8:25 PM There is a bit more than an hour left to enter the team game, but it’s already a big one with 100 entries on the board. Those 100 entries represent 36 registered teams right now, so a few teams have members on multiple buy-ins, and it looks like most of the rest of the entries in this one will come from rebuys. It’s still possible for new teams to buy in right up until the end of entries, however, which should be around 9:50 PM.
-
Team Game Up to 75 Entries
Level: 4 (200/400/400) Entries: 75/75 Prizes: $11,044 Local Time: 7:20 PM Level 4 is nearly complete, and the team game has over $11k in prizes now, with 75 entries on the board. Entries are still open for about 2.5 hours, so those numbers will surely increase, and it looks like there may be more than 100 entries by the time it closes at 9:50 tonight.
-
Up to 68 Entries
Level: 3 (200/300/300) Entries: 68/68 Prizes: $10,013 Local Time: 6:40 PM With Level 3 about to begin, the Team game now has 68 entries on the board, for prizes of more than $10k. The pace of entries has slowed a bit over Level 2, and it looks like most of the new entries from here out will come from rebuys, but new teams can still register up until the start of Level 11.
-
62 Entries and Climbing
Level: 2 (100/200/200) Entries: 62/62 Prizes: $9,130 Local Time: 6:20 PM Level 2 is just beginning and the field is over 60 entries already. That’s a huge turnout for a team game so far, but it looks like they’ve mostly worked their way through the lineup at the entry desk. Entries are still open for more than 3 hours, so this looks like it may be one of the biggest team events in recent memory.
-
Big Start for the Team Game
Level: 1 (100/100/100) Entries: 34/34 Prizes: $5,007 Local Time: 6:05 PM The Team game is off to a roaring start, with 34 entries on the board early in Level 1, and a long line at the entry desk with more teams trying to get in.
It’s worth noting that 34 entries actually represent 17 teams, as buy-ins are being recorded per player instead of per team. That is because players are playing their own stacks through the rebuy period, so some teams may have different numbers of buy-ins for each team member.
The numbers are continuing to climb, and based on the current number and the line at the reg-desk, it seems like a lock to get more than 50 entries in this initial run.

Team Game Runs Saturday Night

Event #6: $180 Team ($155 + $25)
Date: Apr 11, 6 PM Blinds: 20 Minutes Starting Stack: 25k Late Entry: 10 Levels (~9:50 PM) Day 1 Ends: One-Day Event Saturday evening is Team time. The Team game kicks off at 6 PM, and it’s a bit of a different format than usual. Teams have to announce before the start of play, and once the action is going, teams can’t change members.
The big difference from the more familiar team games is that each team member plays their own stack throughout the entry period. Players can rebuy individually for $180 as many times as they need during the rebuy period, and once entries are closed, team members combine their stacks, and it switches back to the more traditional format of alternating levels for each member of the team.
Entries will close, and the stacks will combine for this one at the start of Level 11, with 20-minute levels throughout the night. That puts the end of entries at about 9:50 PM, after which, they’ll play down to the winner.

From Left, Kelly Wist, Wendy Wilson, Gianna Taylor, Noah Capannelli
James Dryburgh(L), Mat Maddalo (R), Winners of the Team event Last Summer, the final two teams of Kelly Wist/Wendy Wilson & Gianna Taylor/Noah Capannelli chopped up the team game after making it through 25 entries. In the spring, in a larger $450 game, James Dryburgh and Mat Maddalo took down the win over 19 entries.
