It took almost 14 hours to get through the 96 returning players on Day 2, but in the end, Gennady Klimenko emerged with all the chips. He was in control for much of the final table, but things got a bit dicey for him when they were three ways. Carter McCauly, who ended up 3rd place, was leading for a bit, but Klimenko grabbed a big lead again when he took McCauley’s stack.
That left him heads up against Anthony Casten, with Klimenko on about 50 million to about 8 million for Casten. In the final hand, Casten turned a straight draw and the money went in, but Klimenko was on a set of queens and held for the win.
This was Klimenko’s first live win, and his biggest score by quite a margin. In fact, his previous lifetime earnings on Hendon Mob were just $11.5k going into this one, so it’s significantly bigger than his previous total earnings.
